Beyond Pita — Restaurant in Montclair

I’ve been to this place one time and although it wasn’t horrible it wasn’t good enough to try again.. Looking through trying to order some lunch I decided to give it another try ..

Falafel 4.5/5 really good best thing they probably have

Grilled chicken sandwich 1/5 very tough chicken couldn’t really bite into it… tasted very old, one bite and into the garbage

Kofta pita 0/5 tough, and a whole tub full of cinnamon that went into that meat seasoning.. Can’t really taste nothing else.. one bite and it was garbage

Hummus 2/5 tasted store ready and bought.. Didn’t even put the effort to drizzle a little olive oil or sumac or even whole chickpeas.. just straight tasteless blended chickpeas.. Doesn’t even come with pita bread you have to buy pita bread on the side (a little disrespectful in the arab world cause what the hell do you eat it with then?)

Pita Bread 0/5 $1.50 for 2 pieces and it was as stale as the chicken in the chicken sandwich ..

Honestly surprised that it has such good reviews its so misleading .. 40$ later left hungry and sharing a falafel sandwich and re-seasoning the hummus so we can enjoy it.. think it would do better as a strict ONLY FALAFEL restaurant.. Everything...

The worst chicken shawrma sandwich I ever had in my life. Lettuce was old, turning yellow. The sandwich was dripping in sauce as if they attempted to hide the fact that their lettuce was bad and chicken flavorless. Sandwich came apart so fast. The two men that work there were rude too they didn’t tell me my sandwich was done I had to go to the counter to find it laying there, cold. I was standing in the store the whole time, he claimed he was going to give it to me when he was done stocking the bags…… he could have just given me it by taking one bag out instead of me waiting until he stocked the entire box out. I’m not sure what I did to trigger his rude behavior but it’s a shame that as a middle easterner I couldnt enjoy a close “Mediterranean “ place by me. To top it all off, the sandwich, that I threw away after a few bites was $10…… should have just gotten pizza in town. It seemed like when I spoke in Arabic they were triggered even though they also speak Arabic,...

As I eat the same lentil soup I order every time I come here I’m bothered! The food is good , some things on the menu may not be consistent, but overall I have no actual complaints about the food. The customer service however, is unacceptable. I usually pair the soup with a spinach pie, which I ordered. From his (assuming the business owner) response telling me they didn’t have anymore up until paying and making my exit this tone in how he spoke to me was rude, aggressive & dismissive. Other times it wasn’t as bad but every time I come and he’s taking orderes his customer service is sub par (with me specifically). Never took it personally before but I found it funny how he was all smiles with other customers that were there during as well. So who knows what this was all about. I’ve been raised to never disrespect my elders so I hesitated in my reaction and walked out but I will not...
