Sunrise Bagels — Restaurant in Montclair

If you want to be abused, definitely come here. If you're a person who's on the go, wants to eat, and just be treated with respect, DON'T come here. I started to take offense to their treatment of us, in thinking they were horrible because we were black, but after reading a few other bad reviews, their attitudes seem to stem from person to person and from time to time. So the race card is out.

Anyway, this was my first time here today, ordering was already challenging. The order was repeated THREE times. Ouch! To add insult to injury, people were all over the place, standing too close to one another, a white lady took a juice out of the fridge, began drinking it, put it in her pocket, and almost didn't pay for it like a would be thief in the night. They laughed it off, which was odd. I did notice the dirty looks shot at us as we waited, and somehow, people who were coming in after us, were getting their orders BEFORE us. I thought, okay maybe it was because we had a large order with specific instructions... NOPE. Others had the same orders, bacon, egg and cheese. 20 minutes later, still no order, and when my wife asked about it, they shot her a dirty look. You would think someone who would shoot a paying customer a dirty look would have their "talents" in check right? WRONG! Drove 20 minutes home only to find out the orders were wrong and inedible. It's safe to say that during a pandemic with so many uncertainties and money hard to come by, our money most definitely won't be spent here. I strongly suggest anyone here reading this, please do yourself a huge favor and find another place to support. I hear hot bagels abroad is amazing! I'll be visiting...

I cannot believe how negative some of the reviews of Sunrise online are, as the food was outstanding and I had a great experience.

Back in NJ for work this past week, my colleagues had ordered a ton of bagels from Sunrise and they were really fantastic. HUGE, with lots of options, and perfectly prepared. Told that Sunrise was a favorite of local Montclair legend Yogi Berra, I wanted to head to the shop for a proper breakfast and to get bagels to go before I headed back to the south.

I arrived pretty early in the morning (7:30ish) and had very good service, enjoying a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. The space in the restaurant itself was also great - clean and comfortable, I was able to eat, have coffee, and work for a couple of hours (there IS free WiFi) without troubling anyone.

If you're in the area, definitely check out Sunrise. I'm certainly glad I didn't take the negative reviews here...

It's not great the food is very very basic but it's a nice location it's nice setting the staff is nice the prices are fair.

Basically, every time I've eaten there I've said to myself "this thing right here in front of me is not good, I'm not enjoying it, but its good enough and its a nice location and I am enjoying the setting."

Just this morning we had time only for a quick breakfast stop so we stoped by sunrise. One of the sandwiches was wrong and the replacement sandwich came out cheese wasn't melted eggs were over cooked bacon was burnt. You know they just had to rush it out of the kitchen. No one back there is really paying attention to the quality of what being put on the plate.

Again a nice enough place to sit down but, for sure, the quality of the food is the least important part of...
