Sushi Koshi — Restaurant in Montclair

I usually love this establishment and I’m a frequent customer. Though I have to say the last time I ate here with my family I had a HORRIBLE experience. The woman who claims she is one of the managers was so rude to us it was disgusting. I happen to be a BLACK woman and we know when someone is racist, and that is exactly how she is. She didn’t want to serve us, she made us wait way too long compared to White customers that came in after us. When she did come to the table she was very rude spoke nasty to us and was very impatient and rushed us. As soon as she served the other patrons (white) she was all giggles and smiles. As soon as she came back to us the (black) people yet again we were met with the same nasty, rude demeanor. Might I add this isn’t the first time she had been a nasty individual. Awesome sushi. Very delicious and well made. We've ordered takeout from here twice now and we're very satisfied. Seems to be very busy with people inside and outside. It takes some time to get your food, but that's cause they are busy and have good sushi. They are also very sweet and included miso soup and care about their customer experience. They provide all the sause, utensils, and napkins you need, and if ordering takeout, it comes in a platter. Very good sushi highly recommend. Limited parking out front. Atmosphere looks good and we'll decorated but can't comment on anything else inside. Forgot to take photos but trust me it was good. I went there on a Monday. When I called I was told they take orders online and not on the phone despite me doing this before. When I walked in the food preparers greeted but none of the wait staff showed customers waiting any attention. Phones were answered quickly but customers standing waiting to ordered was not acknowledged until 4-5 minutes of waiting. If you have been here before, you know the place is small. Standing there means the wait staff has to go around u. I’m going accuse them of anything however when you have two non white/ non Asian customers waiting for more than 5 minutes without being spoken to and navigating around us, the optics are not good.
