Sahara Restaurant — Restaurant in Montgomery Township

This used to be a good restaurant which we looked forward to frequenting. We went there last night and were very disappointed. The service was inattentive - had to flail my hands to attract someone's attention even though there was almost no one in the restaurant and three waiters looking bored. One of the dishes we ordered was inedible. It was already fermented probably after having spent too much time unrefrigerated. When I finally was able to attract the attention of a waitress telling her that the dish was inedible, she simply shrugged and started walking away. I had to call her back to ask her to take the barely touched dish away. Not only was there no apology but to add insult to injury they charged me for the spoiled dish. This review is long overdue. My wife and I have been coming here almost on a weekly basis for the last 2 years. I can honestly say that this is one of my all-time favorite restaurants ever. Rarely does an establishment have the level of freshness, cleanliness and CONSISTENCY that Sahara has. We order practically the same dishes every time and never get bored, because it just hits every spot! Besides everything on the menu being incredibly tasty (and the baklava is the best I've ever had), Tarik is just an all-around great guy. If you frequent this place as often as we do, you can bet that you'll become family with Tarik and all the other great folks that serve here. I recently dined at Sahara, and while the food was amazing, the experience could have been better. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the hummus was really tasty. The traditional combo platter with chicken kabab and lamb shish kabab was full of flavor and really satisfying.The Orzo soup was light and comforting, a perfect start. And the kunafa for dessert was juicy and delicious – a great way to finish the meal. However, the wait after ordering was longer than expected, which was a bit frustrating.
