Karen made a cake for my daughter and son in law's baby shower, and I have to tell you over one year later I am still hearing how beautiful and delicious the cake was. The vanilla cake was super moist and the taste was amazing, not like the box stores, you could taste vanilla. The cannoli filling was perfect, and if you know anything about Italian cannoli filling, you know what I mean.It taste just like mom would make. Besides the baby shower cake the Walnut cake is to absolutely die for. I get it every time I go there with the exception of before Christmas, and I brought home the beautifully decorated cookies. I cannot rave enough about Sweet Gourmet Bakery and if I could give it 100 stars I would. Karen is the sweetest person and always full of ideas.

I have to add to my original review as Karen made two cakes for my grandson's first birthday. An amazing 1st lap cake and a smash cake. Not only did I hear how delicious the cake so fresh and moist but the cannoli filling was like the shower cake filling, "to die for." All her baked goods are freshly made each day form scratch, as I can attest to this, seeing it first hand. I know anyone who has a well developed palate can certainly taste the difference in baked goods, between a made from scratch with high end ingredients cake and cakes that are commercially made., ie franchise bakeries and restaurants. and as they say, "you get what you pay for." And of course with an important event, who wouldn't want the best. I also love the fact that Karen bakery is small and very personal, but that you can also get a glimpse of Karen at times creating wonderful treats all from scratch. I was very excited to locate a cake from a fine new bakery at short notice. The young woman that answered the phone was lovely and very helpful. This was my first experience at Sweet Gourmet. As I walked through the door I noticed the few patrons were not wearing masks. I could understand and accept that. The person behind the counter was not and I felt awkward {since he was a food handler}. When I asked him why he was not wearing a mask, he replied "one day we won't have to". I purchased the cake and left. While sitting in my car feeling very uneasy, I realized I would not be able to serve the cake to my family, let alone eat it myself knowing the employees making and handling it did not wear masks. So, I returned the cake and drove around looking for a satisfactory cake where the food handlers wore masks. There was no problem. The 2 stars reflect Sweet Gourmet's unwise lack of concern and empathy for the varied experiences and perspectives of their potential customers. This is a new business. Finely baked goods can touch ones heart with delight. Many of those potential customers are sincerely uncertain about covid safety measures because of the conflicting messages being broadcast concerning them. Mask wearing is such a small thing. Empathy is a powerful one, and helps people to feel trust and gratitude. What a small price to pay for even one grateful customer, and the rewards can be unexpected. I was looking for a new bakery I began my search and came across sweet gourmet cakes. Best decision I’ve ever made from beginning to end. The professionalism, courtesy and customer service was amazing. Top rated.

I was planning a birthday lunch for my daughter. I needed a cake for a small party I was grateful to Karen being that she would normally do cakes for a larger size party Karen immediately suggested cake testing, which I thought was just simply amazing.

Words cannot describe the flavors of the pastry creams and buttercream, but most of all my favorite the chiffon cakes. Before doing the taste testing, I decided to purchase some of the Pastries until the taste testing date was ready. Delicious! The scones, cupcakes, and the strawberry shortcake that was available in a cup size. The flavors texture taste definitely top rated!

After discussing the specifics on the cake as far as the decor, I could say that Karen was fully attentive and also gave suggestions.
