We are locals. We used to go to this business regularly because there were a few items that we enjoyed that we could only get at a Sonic, & this is the only Sonic in our area. Due to chronic slow service & the level of disrespect we experienced last night, we will never visit this location again.
Over the last two years, we have NEVER received our food in less than 15 minutes. That includes our visits prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. On most visits, we pull into a stall, push the red button, then wait 5 minutes or so, only to be told they are only taking drive-thru orders. We pull out, get behind at least 3 cars that have entered the line since we first pulled into the stall, & spend 15-20 minutes more to get our food.
Last night, my family & I pulled into stall 8. All stalls across from the building were blocked off. Cars were in stalls 2,3,4,5. My husband pressed the red button & waited. Several cars entered the drive-thru & the line got long. An employee brought food to the car in stall 6. That car left & another pulled in. We were still waiting for them to respond to us. After 7 minutes, an employee said through our speaker, "Sorry, we are only taking orders at the drive-thru." Not 2 seconds later, the same employee asked a car in another stall for their order. By this time, several cars were in the drive-thru line & we were blocked from leaving the stall. My husband pressed the red button again to request to speak to a manager to get an explanation as to why we were lied to, but the same employee answered & said the same thing about it being drive-thru only, & cut the speaker off. Less than a minute later, we hear her taking an order at another stall (either 4 or 5). My husband pressed the red button one more time, but she repeated the same message & did not allow my husband to speak. I then called the store. They asked what stall we were in & the color of our car, & indicated that a manager would come out to speak with us. We waited 5 minutes & no one came out. I got out of the car & went to the picnic table area in the hopes of speaking to someone who could tell me whether or not the manager was still planning to speak with us. I asked a female employee as she came out with an order & she blew me off, stating she needed to get an order to a customer (but they were ONLY taking drive-thru orders, right??). I began taking a panoramic of the parking lot to document that they were clearly NOT taking drive-thru orders ONLY, as I fully intended to report this incident to the owner. After waiting 4 minutes in the table area, the manager did not come out, so I went back to our car. I called the store again & asked to speak to a manager over the phone. The female employee, who I assume to be the one that I spoke to at the table area, started yelled at me, stating, "You can't legally videotape me & the manager said to tell you that you must leave the premises immediately" and hung up on me. I called back & told the male employee that answered to tell the manager that we were not able to leave as the drive-thru line was blocking our car. He said, "What do you want? What do you want us to do about it? There are only four of us here" and hung up on me. After several minutes, we were finally able to get out of the stall.
My guess is that the business decided to only take stall orders from stalls 1-6 because those are close to their door. Why blatantly lie to a customer about it though? What kind of manager refuses to speak with customers? The employees & the manager should be held accountable for the lie and the disrespect we were shown. I called customer service last night to report this incident. The operator said she would pass the information along. I don't have much confidence that anything will change at this location as a result. I believe that publicly sharing my family’s experience with this business will be a more powerful motivator for positive change at this business than my chat with...
Read moreThis was by far the worst Sonic experience I have ever had and it deserves zero stars. I came to this location to order something simple, an ice cream and a slushie. It should not take long, especially when the parking lot was not busy. Yet I sat waiting for over 10 minutes before anyone brought my order out.
When the ice cream finally arrived, it was already melted. That was my first red flag. I decided to taste it before leaving, and it was spoiled. Spoiled ice cream means their machines are not being cleaned and maintained properly, which is disgusting and dangerous for customers.
I pressed the red button immediately to report it, and the same girl came back out. Her attitude was dismissive and unprofessional from the start. There was no apology, no accountability, nothing. She shrugged it off and said, “I can remake it.” Why would I want another ice cream from a machine that is clearly filthy and producing spoiled product? I told her no, because I know what Sonic ice cream tastes like and I also know exactly what spoiled milk tastes like. She did not care. Her only response was, “do you want a refund?”
At that point I told her directly that they are not cleaning their ice cream machine and it is nasty. Her response was to say, “let me see your receipt, I’ll have to refund the whole order and my manager isn’t here,” then walk away with the ice cream. Again, no apology, no concern, no ownership of the fact that they just served spoiled food.
By this point my stomach was already hurting from just one bite. That alone should terrify any customer because spoiled dairy can cause real health problems. She came back with cash and the receipt, saying it had to be refunded that way because she “already cashed it out.” Then she demanded the slushie back. I gladly handed it over because at this point, between the long wait, the spoiled ice cream, and the horrible customer service, I had no interest in consuming anything else from that location.
This is not just poor service, this is a complete failure in food safety, management, and customer care. It is unacceptable and it is dangerous. Serving spoiled ice cream shows that they are not following basic cleanliness standards. Allowing employees to handle the situation with zero professionalism, zero accountability, and zero apology shows that the staff is either poorly trained or simply does not care. And the fact that the entire situation was brushed off with a half-hearted refund is proof that the management at this location has no control over their operation.
I will never return to this Sonic and I strongly warn anyone else against eating here. If they are comfortable serving spoiled ice cream, who knows what else in that kitchen is not being cleaned or maintained properly. The health department needs to investigate this location immediately before someone gets seriously sick.
Avoid this place at all costs. It is filthy,...
Read moreAbout 3 weeks ago, I ordered two slushes and mozzerella sticks thru the app and specifically requested for marinara because it is often forgotten from my past experiences. One of the slushes ordered was a cranberry limeade. When the carhop came i had one correct slush a sprite and no marinara. I hit the button and explained the issues with no disdain as i figured the carhop had just mistakenly given my drink to another customer. I was answered with nothing but attitude. I was told i was given a plain limeade because they were out of cranberry. At which point do you ask me if i wanted something else, you did not ever even mention it to me while waiting just gave me something else. I explained that i had a sprite not a limeade slush. The employee told me i did not have a sprite despite what i was clearly holding in my hand was a clear soda with ice not a slush. I then had to ask could i have something else and ordered a grape limeade slush, my usual. The carhop that came to my vehicle with the new slush was the same carhop as before with an extreme attitude change. She did bring the new slush and marinara but failed to apologize for the obvious sprite i had in my hand now that she could see it for herself. She actually failed to open her mouth at all. Just reached out her hand for the sprite. Im confused as to why your attitude is with me as i was extremely nice despite the mistakes. The slush was extremely sour as it normally is not which i think was intentional however they must didnt know that i like it that way...
