My family came into town to visit me, and we got a table here at The House Restaurant. My boyfriend & uncle loved the southern fried chicken, they said the chicken was done very well, very juicy, and the corn bread delicious. Also I never thought my boyfriend would eat greens and he ate them collard greens 🤭❤️! (5/5⭐️).
My mom and aunt got the seared salmon with asparagus, & a salad (I forgot the name but it was the one with strawberry, nuts, chicken) no complaints! Very big portion my mom was worried she wouldn’t finish her plate but she did. (5/5⭐️).
I was debating between salmon or pasta, and decided on the linguini pasta, I haven’t had pasta in a long time so I was craving some. The linguini had zucchini/squash, asparagus, bits of red onion, and peppers. It was an okay for me, not sure what exactly threw my taste buds off 🤔. I don’t know if it was the red onions, the small cut peppers, but a part of me was thinking I might need a bit of a meat protein with it, and the reason why was the sauce flavor on the pasta was giving me seafood vibe I was thinking I need shrimp or fish to go along with this (3/5⭐️). I think it would pair well with salmon or shrimp. If it had more cheese into the sauce I would pair it with chicken.
After tasting a bit of the “market” salad I could barely go for my linguini pasta. I just wanted more of the salad, I absolutely love the vinaigrette, with the cottage cheese & the walnuts. never get rid of this salad, this is the best salad. I get the market salad at Chik Fil La, but this one just TOPS it ofc by 3x I would definitely go back here to try the rest of their menu.
Also I see a lot of review pictures but didn’t see on the menu. We went here since we saw a photo of pizza which was something for my boyfriend since he isn’t really into steak, seafood, or salads (basically their appetizers, salads, and most of their entrees). So I’m assuming they have more menus but need to ask for it or possible just a seasonal menu. Like dessert we didn’t see any dessert menu.
5/5 ⭐️, even though I didn’t exactly enjoy my linguini pasta it didn’t ruin my experience. It was my choice of entree after all. I was still able to enjoy my dinner with the salad & with my family.
Addition: our waitress was very nice and attentive. I was thinking they serve our food one by one but they had 2 other people bring our food out all together! And I believe the manager came by to...

I recently stayed at the Renaissance in Montgomery, and during my visit, I decided to dine at The House restaurant. My first experience two nights ago was excellent. I don’t eat pork and have a shellfish allergy, which I made clear when I ordered. The bartender that evening was fantastic—she ensured my dietary needs were met by substituting the shellfish and verifying there was no pork in my food. It was such a great meal that I chose to have dinner there again on my last night.
Unfortunately, my second experience was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the shrimp and grits but asked for salmon instead of shrimp and no bacon. The server slightly adjusted the order, giving me salmon with a side of grits, which was fine. However, I specifically asked for the sauce that comes with the shrimp and grits because that’s what I truly enjoy.
The server went to the back to have the sauce made for me, and I appreciated the effort. But when the sauce arrived, something tasted off. At first, I couldn’t figure it out, but as I mixed my food, I realized there was pork in the sauce. When I brought this to the bartender’s attention, she assured me that she had instructed the kitchen about my dietary restriction. Yet somehow, the miscommunication in the kitchen led to pork being included in my meal.
As someone who avoids pork for religious reasons, this was extremely upsetting. The restaurant offered to remake my meal, but by that point, I no longer trusted the kitchen to prepare my food correctly. Not only did I have to forgo my meal, but I spent the rest of the evening trying to recover from having pork in my system, which makes me sick.
This situation was completely unacceptable. I know this dish can be made without pork because it was done perfectly two nights prior. The miscommunication between the server, bartender, and kitchen staff ruined my evening and left me feeling deeply frustrated and disrespected.
While my first experience was lovely, this incident overshadowed it entirely. I can’t recommend this restaurant to others with dietary restrictions or allergies, as their lack of attention to detail could have severe...
Read moreI made our reservation months ago for 8. We are a non-profit. We are The Real Mothers Of Childcare. Professional Black women who care for kids. I am the owner and I wanted to show my Chiefs of staff a great dinner. There were photographers there but they couldn’t shoot any pictures. House rules she said but when I called and did the reservation, it was fine. I asked and paid for a private booth. When we walked in… they had up set up at the door (non-private). I explained to the hostess that I ordered a private booth. I pointed at the empty, clean booth that I ordered. With hostility, she said we have took our time to place you here. It would be a total inconvenience to move you. I stared at her. My daughter said Mom please, let’s just sit down. Sueann was our waitress. We had to ask for refills. I guess Sueann assume me cause we were black that we wanted hot sauce with our chicken. She moved too quick. We had to ask for straws. She said she had to go HUNT down straws. 🤨🤨. 30 minutes of sitting, she finally took our order. The food was garbage. Longhorn has much better steaks and salmon. But we pressed on. When we were finished, Sueann asked if it was separate tickets.. I said one check. The bill was $258.00. When she brought the ticket, she had already wrote in the tip line $50.83. I got confused. I asked her why was the tip line filled in.. she said it’s an automatic 25% gratuity with 3 or more people. Interesting. My daughter explained and asked… why would you put the tip on my mom card….. we all were going to leave you $10 apiece. 😳😳😳 the look she gives now. It was 9 of us. She brought back another ticket with no tip written. I tipped her the same amount she wrote in at first. All in a nut shell, WE WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BECAUSE WE ARE SUCCESSFUL BLACK WOMEN. FROM THE HOSTESS, WAITRESS TO THE PEOPLE THEY RAN TO GET TO COME PEEP and POINT AT US. WE WERE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I COULD RENTED OUT THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT BUT ONCE THEY FOUND OUT I WAS BLACK…. They wouldn’t have allowed it!!! The...
