They advertise on their website "the best sandwich in Montpelier" which is automatically a turn off (self-aggrandizing is not cool). Face it, Enna makes better sandwiches but they are stupid expensive and Bohemian makes better sandwiches just not much variety. I can't think where else you can get a sandwich (gas stations don't count). So by my count you make the worst sandwiches in Montpelier.
Second, the name Yellow Mustard for a sandwich shop is pretty bad. Not everyone likes mustard, some even hate it, so it's an immediate turn off. Kids usually won't touch the stuff. For me, great on the incredible Reuben sandwiches in Jewish restaurants in Montreal but otherwise meh. Extremely minor quibble but I still shake my head.
Third, why does a sandwich cost $3.25 more if it is toasted? Untoasted subs are $8.00, toasted sandwiches $11.25. Huh. Really?
Finally, the sandwiches are nothing special. They have very little going for them and I see no reason frequent a restaurant if I can make a better version of what is on offer for a much lower price. I would even break down and spend $13 dollars for an Enna sandwich (practically next door) because it's just better. Or go to Willawans on the same street and have amazing food that I can't emulate at home for about the same price. This place is fine for tourists and children but it's just too mediocre to justify it's existence in Montpelier. And lay off how great you say you are because that's simply ridiculous.
I've got nothing against you guys personally, no clue who you are and have never worked in the food industry but I call it...
Read moreYellow Mustard Deli is simply WONDERFUL! As we are from out of town (Texas), we asked some locals for a recommendation for a good place to eat lunch while we were traveling through Montpelier. Yellow Mustard came highly recommended.
My wife and I ordered two things - a Cuban panini and a Rancho Bernardo wrap. Both were absolutely superb. Serving size was generous, prices were very reasonable, and the service was simply amazing.
The very personable gentleman who made these for us came out from behind the counter to ask us how we liked our meals and said he wanted to be sure that we were delighted with what he had made. His was so genuine and so pleasant that this added to our experience.
Both my wife and I remarked that we were enjoying the best sandwiches and wraps that we had ever found in a deliâŚ..anywhere! If we lived anywhere in the area, we would undoubtedly be regular customers at Yellow Mustard..
We usually donât take the time to review restaurants, but the praise that we are expressing herein is well deserved. Try it -...
Read morethe quality of the ingredients are very nice, however, my turkey bacon club wrap ($12) had basically just lettuce and turkey (2 strips of bacon for the entire wrap, and 2 pieces of tomato) so that was slightly disappointing but even more so; when I went to call them to speak to someone in regards to a request with my order prior to picking it up, the recording says âwe do not answer our phonesâ and offers you to leave a message that will be checked at closingâŚâŚ if that isnât the dumbest set up youâve ever heard of! there were also 2 guys in there preaching about Jesus to the patrons (who had a child with her and looked insanely uncomfortable) which should not been allowed. They should have been made to leave as they did not order anything at all & they shouldnât be allowed to make others uncomfortable regardless!!! Some of the selections charge you 25¢ to substitute alike sauces (chipotle mayo for plain mayo) Just an overall...
