One word : AVOID. If you could take your time to read a couple of negative reviews before going here, you might find a lot of insights and save a lot of time. First of all, I will state that we went on a Sunday evening while it was super busy (as early as 5PM). The restaurant was super cold that we couldn’t sit without jackets. A big group left just within minutes and the restaurant freed up. It took a while for them to take our order but 20 mins later we placed our order and were advised that the momos are frozen and can take 30-40 mins to come. (Do yourself a favor, DO NOT ORDER THE MOMOS). We waited and 2 hours later, we still did not have any food on our table. They come back to check our order and we found out that half the items we ordered wasn’t on their list! And none of the items they had captured outside of the lassis was on our table. The bread was served but no curries with it. Bread goes cold. We sent it back to reheat and bring the curries along! Another 20 mins later (which is now past 2 hours), they tell us chicken momos was missing in the order. And, regretfully the long wait served us super dry, thick, low quality momos. All in all, they need to start with customer service in mind first. We also noticed takeout was prioritized higher. But, hey you lost a lot of customers when you keep them hanging. The chicken biryani was tasteless and bland. Paneer tikka roll was overflowing with oil. If you are able to get yourself to drive towards Burlington, there are better nepali restaurants. We saw lot of folks enter and leave having waited lengthy minutes. They seriously need to start with customer service in mind. And, we walked out without throwing tantrums.Super...
Read moreGood: Indian and Nepalese food in Central Vermont. The flavor is good and the food is all well cooked and tasty. I hope they stick around for quite a while. I will support them regularly.
Bad: The food is under spiced. Chicken Vindaloo was G rated and I was hoping for authentic levels of heat. I'm Irish, I should be sweating bullets from vindaloo but, I didn't even crack a sweat. I'm guessing they didn't think Montpelierites were prepared for the appropriate level of spice but, I wish they would at least provide different levels of spice for those who want the authentic experience. The spice level is good for children though.
Also, it just opened, but the wait was INSANE. They didn't give any indication of prep time when we ordered. My wife made the 5 minute drive 20 minutes after we ordered and then proceeded to sit there for 70 minutes waiting! Make sure to get some indication of time when you order unless you want to stand around with a bunch of other hungry in masks. If you want to order dinner, I would put in your order more than an hour before you...
Read moreI hate to do this but I got food poisoning from this restaurant and totally ruined my vacation.
They have a specifically marked “vegetarian / vegan” section of the menu and I can’t eat dairy. An item that I was suspicious about having dairy came out and I explicitly asked if it was dairy free / vegan, they said it was, and then several hours later I experienced what I’ll call pretty extreme food poisoning symptoms (for lack of a more detailed TMI description…) for nearly 16 hours straight. Still feeling like I got the wind knocked out of me over 24 hours later. One of the dishes I got also had cauliflower which seemed suspicious in terms of texture and flavor — might have been old rotten vegetables. The other people I was with can eat dairy and were fine (and didn’t eat the cauliflower) and I had no stomach issues before eating at this restaurant, so there was indeed dairy in my food even though I explicitly asked for there not to be. Or I ate rotten cauliflower. Both bad...
