It is a bitter cold morning with the temperature at a balmy -1. I am in the Capitol city of Montpelier, Vermont...at Capitol Grounds. Warm welcome and the smells of coffee are apparent upon walking in. I was travelling with my parents. They ordered a breakfast sandwich called the Greta. It was served on a croissant with a fried egg, pesto, tomato, and a sharp cheddar. My parents gave it a solid A. My mom ordered a fancy latte. She was tickled pink that they put a heart on the latte. I enjoyed a Lox Bagel. Served on Capitol Grounds homemade original bagel with cream cheese, dill, salmon, and capers (A-)... I paired this with a Natalie's Organic Orange Juice. This was followed with a fresh raspberry peach muffin. It had "sanding" or turbinado sugar on the top. The muffin was chocked full of raspberry and peach pieces. This was a solid A+ muffin. The atmosphere was super with lots of great people watching opportunities. Everyone was friendly and a little chatter could be heard. Just a really great...
Read moreOn a road trip through Vermont we stopped in Montpelier for a latre lunch. We didn't know where we were going or what we would find but discovered this little gem. Somehow we found our way to State Street and saw that there were many places to eat so we parked, got out and walked around reading menus. We were looking for sandwiches so after reading a sidewalk sign, we popped in to Capital Grounds. I had an absolutely delicious panini with avocado and artichoke and my husband had a turkey club. He also had a craft beer which I can't tell you the name of, but I had a sip and even as a non beer drinker I thought it was really good. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was nice, kind of reminded me of a library with food, beer and coffee. There were a lot of people there drinking coffee and using the wifi. The prices were very reasonable and we ate every bite of our tasty meal. Definitely would reccommend and if I ever find myself in Montpelier again, I...

I was calling because a patron picking up a catering order was double parked on the main road blocking traffic. The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me that they don't have parking, they don't own the parking lot behind them, and my favorite...WELCOME TO THE STATE OF VERMONT! Robert Watson...you should be ashamed of the behavior of your employees. The snotty lack of customer service will cause me NOT to enter your establishment - and certainly tell my friends, family, neighbors and co-workers, of the State of Vermont...
