Longshots Sports Cafe — Restaurant in Montville

Longshots was once one of my favorite places to go on any given night of the week to grab a beer or drink or appetizers. Berto, Heather, and Brianna have all treated me like family for YEARS there.

HOWEVER...I had an issue with my debit card that had FAR MORE than an adequate balance available to pay my bill. I attempted alternative means of payment which also unexpectedly and unfortunately failed (something that has never previously occurred at any point when I have gone to Longshots). I was extremely frustrated at being unable to pay and was working through the credit card situation and headed to the in-house ATM instead to try to withdraw the cash to pay the bill.

At this point, the woman behind the bar, who is apparently the owner yelled, "Excuse me, sir, where are you going?????" as if I were intending to leave without paying.

After unsuccessfully attempting to withdraw from the ATM, I confronted the woman about her implying that I was trying to leave restaurant without paying. I let her know that I was a long-time patron of Longshots (since 2013) and that she could call Berto or any of the other waitstaff and they would vouch for my integrity as a customer.

Despite ultimately having settled my bill and tip with my server, the owner instead called and had me pursued down Route 32 by a Montville Police officer on the grounds that I had used "inappropriate language with her at the bar," which I explained to the very reasonable officer who stopped me that I had in fact taken exception to her implying that I intended to leave without paying. He immediately released me without further incident, but I will never set foot in Longshots again after this incidence of harassment despite my close, long-standing ties to the fine...

This was my first visit to this sports bar. I don't usually go to sports bars because I don't care for the atmosphere. I never understood the point of lining up a bunch of TV'S with the sound turned off. The decor is not great either. Anyway, the food was very good. I got the Smokehouse Angus burger which came with fries. It had American cheese, fried onion rings and Smokehouse sauce. It was delicious! The fries were really good, too. Nice and crispy. The bar is in a shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking. Since it was a holiday, the place was pretty busy so it took a little while to get our food but the waitress was doing her best to take care of all the tables by herself. The ladies room is in need of an upgrade. The toilet seat looked dirty but it was because it's old and worn. The walls could use a new coat of paint . All in all, I would recommend...

I would have given this place 5 stars if not for the staff. I met my friend here for lunch. We were pretty much the only customers. The waitress was nice (so we thought). She inquired about my friends job, so naturally my friend went on about the pros and cons. Later we come to find out our waitress had called my friends boss to tell her how she was talking smack about the place. I seriously couldn't believe what my friend had told me. She got in trouble at her job because of a conversation she had out to lunch with me!!! That behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. I hope the rest of their staff does not treat their PAYING customers in that way. I am definitely going to tell everyone I know about this incident, and recommend they do not give this place...
