we love mike and tony’s. always go there when my mom is in town. I had gotten a chicken salad. My order came and i was eating while mixing my salad. I took a bite and felt a hair in my mouth. I automatically spit the food out of my mouth. I was not going to say anything because I just am not that kind of person. I have worked in food service so I know what it is like. so I threw the hair on the ground. but my family were telling me to say something because they need to know. So i grabbed the hair from the floor so when the waitress came, my mother had said something. The waitress said she was sorry and said they were going to make me a new one. I felt super bad and apologized to her. a few minutes later the manager came out and had said “I heard you found something in your food” and i proceeded to tell her what happened. She then said “I saw the camera footage and it looks like you grabbed something off the floor.” Then my mom told her that I picked it up off the floor and you can see on the camera that i took the hair out of my mouth and held it up also spit out my food on top of that. She proceeded to ignore my mom and looked at me and asked if I wanted a new salad. I said yes please and told her no tomato two times. first, they had to look at the footage before they made me a new salad which honestly was ridiculous in my opinion but I do understand where they are coming from and it did not look so good on my part because they seen me pick up the hair. I will admit to that. When the waitress came back she explained that the manager was still looking at the camera. She brought my new salad back out with tomato when I said no tomato. The waitress did apologize and said everything was fine. Basically that we were right that their was a food in my hair. She explained that the manager looked at the cameras because they have all men working back in the kitchen. the waitress should haven’t apologized to us. It should have been the manager who tried to accuse me of trying to get “free food”. I ended up not eating the salad because I was just sick to my stomach about what happened and how the manager handled things. the only positive thing was the wonderful waitress who had to apologize for the managers mistake. Also, someone from the kitchen came out and just stared at us which was unprofessional lol.
update: you did not apologize to me at all. you simply came up and asked me what I had found in my food with an attitude and just asked if i wanted a new salad. Then continued to have the waitress apologize for everything when it was not even her fault. I understand you were trying to figure out right from wrong but I was never wrong. There was a hair in my food and you guys tried to say I put hair from the floor in the salad which is ridiculous. Also, the hair could have came from anywhere else not just the...
Read moreHaving worked in the service industry, I do my best to support local restaurants that are good value. My father and I have been eating at Mike and Tony’s regularly for a few years. We made it part of our routine to stop by weekly for lunch. Usually, the service is top-notch and the food is delicious. Also, the manager is a class-act, and has been very friendly and attentive during our stops.
This occasion was very disappointing. My father and I sat down in the bar area. After waiting for a while, our server came over (An older woman with blonde hair), I let her know we were ready to order and she left in the middle of me talking. No problem, maybe she was busy (I noticed a majority of the tables in the bar were empty). After waiting for an extended period she came over and took our order. We both ordered the chicken salad (Our usual).
The Pittsburgh-style chicken salad was terrible. The chicken was brutally overcooked and hard as rock (After a few bites I chipped my tooth). The French fries were also inedible. When our server stopped by at the end of the meal, my father explained, “This chicken is really overcooked.” As I was trying not to be difficult, I told her that I wasn’t interested in any kind of comp or remake of the salad. I just wanted to pay the bill. She became immediately combative and rude stating, “Well if you guys didn’t start eating that hard chicken, I could have got you another salad. I’m also very busy.” I told her that I didn’t want to argue and would like to pay the bill. When she brought back my debit card she immediately became argumentative again. I told her, I would just like my credit card back and we would leave. She responded “good” with a smirk on her face.
During my time as a server, I would have never treated a guest in that way.
The sad part is: My father and I have had this same server several times before, she has always been very friendly and attentive. She might have been having a bad day. However, her behavior and dealing of the situation was unacceptable.
Myself and my extended family will no longer support...
Read moreA friend and I recently visited Mike’s and Tony’s Gyros after receiving a recommendation, and I have to say—it was a fantastic experience. It was my first time trying a gyro, and while I was a bit hesitant at first, I went in with an open mind.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the host, who quickly seated us and got our drinks. The hospitality was excellent; they made us feel welcomed without being overbearing. What really stood out was how fast the service was—by the time we had finished a short conversation, our food had already arrived, fresh and hot.
My friend ordered the regular gyro, while I went for the chicken gyro. Right away, I could tell this was going to be a satisfying meal. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and incredibly filling. The pita was soft yet held everything together well, the meat was seasoned perfectly, and even the toppings played their role beautifully. Normally, I’m not a fan of tomatoes, but these were fresh and complemented the gyro in a way that actually made me enjoy them.
Overall, Mike’s and Tony’s Gyros is a must-visit if nearby and you’re looking for a great meal that’s both flavorful and fulfilling. Whether you’re new to gyros or a longtime fan, this spot delivers in every way—fast service, welcoming staff, and a meal that leaves you satisfied....
