Cupcake Carnivale — Restaurant in Moorestown Township

I really did not want to believe the negative reviews initially posted about this place, but unfortunately, they were true. The only reason I rated "atmosphere" a 5/5 is because Moorestown, NJ itself and the shop are adorable and worth a visit just for the history, art, and architecture.

Regarding the cupcakes, they were decently priced, but a little above the quality of Shoprite/store-baked cupcakes. We bought a 4-pack for 16.00, which was not necessarily expensive, but for the quality- way too much. I really wanted to like these cupcakes because of how pretty they looked and how local they are to me, but I will not be purchasing again.

Regarding the owner/ atmosphere, we went in when there was no one in the shop and the owner was very sarcastic, rude, and defensive when I asked him about the cupcake decorations, even after complimenting how beautiful they were. Aside from that, my two-year-old has anxiety and was crying when we walked in for a brief moment- and the owner made a sarcastic and rude remark about this as well. I could not wait to get out of the shop and initially wanted to take pictures of the outside and inside but felt so unwelcome and awkward that I wanted to run.

I LOVE IT!!! How did I not see this place before? My daughter loves cupcakes, so when I saw the store sign, I just had to drop in.

The shop has a very warm, welcoming and cozy atmosphere. It has the look and feel that it’s run by a gourmet pastry chef. The chef, a very friendly Mr. Jeffrey, greeted me with a smile.

While I bagged the cupcakes for my daughter, I saw at the bottom of the display case a magical site. BANANA PUDDING. It happens to be one of my favorite deserts.

I got one of the last batches for me and my wife. While in the car, I couldn’t hold my discipline. I had to try it. Five seconds later…it was gone! Amazing!! I feel bad that I devoured the entire cup of banana pudding, but it was a charge to which I’ll gladly plead guilty. I can’t wait to go back for more! This time I’ll ask for two servings!!

I really wanted to like this place. Truly. It's a cute little shop with nice presentation and friendly staff. But they managed something almost unforgivable: cupcakes that don't satisfy. Sure, I finished my cupcake. But that was more by force of will than a desire to savor every bite. The cupcake (Cake Batter I think?) wasn't bad, but it was possibly on its way to becoming stale and overall was underwhelming despite being nicely composed. My wife thought the creme on her Lavender-flavored cupcake was sour, and neither of my kids ate their entire cupcake, which is pretty much unheard of for them. I also ordered some of the S'mores Fudge, and while it's definitely edible, I can't recall a time I was ever disappointed in fudge until I tried this. All across the board, their products are missing one key thing: satisfying flavor. When it comes to food, that is impossible...
