I placed an online order for delivery. I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania and there was a place in my home town called Tom's Pizzeria. I had my first Stromboli from Tom's and it was to die for. It had Thinly sliced Steak, Ham, Mozzarella AND Provolone Cheeses, A thin scattering of Sweet Pickles, and a Thick Moderately Spicy Tomato Sauce all wrapped in a BUTTERY Flaky Lightly browned Dough. I saw Stromboli on the menu and my thoughts immediately went to home and I ordered it HOPING for anything even remotely close to what I remembered. Boy was I in for a HUGE disappointment. I Chose a Medium and was only permitted to select TWO toppings. That was the first big hint that they don't know how to make Stromboli. STROMBOLI DOESN'T HAVE ANY TOPPINGS! EVERYTHING is wrapped inside the Dough! So, I chose Steak and Ham and asked them to add sweet pickles and charge me accordingly. What I received was nothing like what I remembered. I did receive a courtesy message written inside the box - " No Sweet Pickles. Only Dill here. Here is some Sweet Peppers". The Stromboli was in a puddle of grease. The Dough in the center was soggy. The tightly folded dough at both ends was as hard as a brick to the point I was afraid of breaking my teeth. The Steak was ground beef and had a really great flavor. The ONE SLICE LAYER of Ham was so paper thin that I could literally see through it and couldn't taste it at all. There was far too much Mozzarella Cheese. All I could taste was Steak and Cheese. There was no Sauce inside the Stromboli and was provided in two small sealed cups instead and was WATERY, BLAND TO THE POINT OF BEING TASTELESS, AND EXTREMELY COLD, as if they had been taken out of a freezer and added to my order before it went out the door. The sauce was so watery that spices were actually floating on the surface! In over a sixty years of eating, THAT'S A FIRST!
This was my very first experience with this restaurant and I can assure you that it is...
Read moreWe first found this place while cutting through the parking lot on our way home from shopping in Beaufort. My husband saw all the Philly memorabilia in the window and since he is from Philly I suggested we go in and have a late lunch. I AM SO GLAD WE DID!!! The owner Brett and the girl up front (Brianna) hope I spelled it right, greeted us right away and Brett came up and introduced himself and had a conversation with us. After talking about Philly and the ingredients he used including Amorosa’s Rolls (the only acceptable roll for a hoagie or Philly cheesesteak) down to the Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer we placed our order. Those cheesesteaks are fire!!!! The fries are perfectly cooked and they have malt vinegar for them!!! Brett’s Wife Danielle is a hard working owner as well and makes much of this delicious, authentic Philly Fare!! It was an exceptional experience from the moment we walked in until we walked out of the door. It’s like any small owned shop in Philly. We went back for dinner the following week and again had cheesesteaks and fries and also a slice this time!!! That Pizza is off the hook! Sauce is so good and that crust!!! THE PERFECT PIE!!! As I type this we will be getting dinner there tonight!! Well done Brett and Danielle!!! Forever our favorite spot in NC and Coastal Carolina...
Read moreOrdered pizza @ 7:22 pm Thursday night. This was 1 hour 8 minutes before they closed. The fellow who took the order did a good job and was cordial. We never got our pizza... I read the reviews and found mixed reviews. Some very good, some very bad. My experience is very bad. Loretta's staff should have the courtesy to tell me they can't deliver my order and I have no problem. They left me hanging and never called to tell me they would not be bringing my order. Now I have a problem... but it's a problem I won't have again and I will not be recommending them in the future. Just got a response from Loretta's and the fellow claimed all orders went out last night and that I must have called a Loretta's Pizza in possibly "the Bronx" or South Carolina... I called the one in Morehead City, NC of which there is no doubt and my phone log backs this up. It appears "the buck is being passed to the customer" as I am now being told I made the mistake instead of them owning up to it. Do not pass the blame to the customer which is me in this instance. It only supports the other negative reviews you...
