Sip & Sushi: A Killer Night of Food & Wine Wow, what a night! Last night’s Sip & Sushi event was an absolute blast. This monthly event is a collaboration between Sushi Confidential in Morgan Hill and local wineries, and it’s a brilliant idea. They pair incredible Asian-inspired dishes with wines from the area, and it works so well. This time around, they teamed up with Lion Ranch, and the wine pairings were spot on. The owner of Lion Ranch was there and she walked us through each of the wines, explaining how they're made and why she chose them for each course. She did each of the pours herself, which was a really cool personal touch. Seriously, every sip made the food taste even better, and it was a total home run from start to finish. The food was out of this world. It was an "omakase" style menu, which basically means the chef picks everything for you—and I’m so glad he did! We started with some super fresh tuna crudo in a delicious sauce, then moved on to a cool take on grilled corn. My favorite dish had to be the lamb chop; it was cooked perfectly and served with a fresh salad that was awesome. We also had some delicate soba noodles and this really cool dessert sugar cookie topped with whipping cream and furikake seasoning—talk about unexpected and delicious! The whole menu was creative and everything tasted amazing. The owner of Sushi Confidential, Chef Randy, was the best part of the night. You could tell he’s super passionate about what he does and he made everyone feel right at home. He was walking around, chatting with us, and giving us the lowdown on the food and the event. It’s clear this isn't just a business for him—it's about bringing the community together and celebrating all the great food and wine this area has to offer. I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Sip & Sushi to anyone looking for a fun friends dinner or date night. I can't wait to see what they have planned...
Read moreTerrible service and communication!
Waited over an hour for entrees that ultimately never arrived. WiFi was down, but that does NOT affect ability to communicate or to cook. Manager Caitlyn did nothing to resolve the issue other than closing out our check and asking us to still pay over $40 for 3 mediocre drinks. Completely ridiculous. Will NOT be returning.
Update: Owner Randy's response is nonsensical. Caitlin was comping the drinks for her own tables and all of her tables were receiving prompt food. When we asked her why the other tables were getting served and we weren't, see shrugged and said because they were her tables. Completely ridiculous to me that the manager/assistant manager's tables were getting priority and comped drinks, while the rest of her employees tables were left with a meager shrug. I also run a technology-reliant small business and when the power or internet is out, we communicate with our customers and handwrite and fulfill the orders. Randy's response only solidifies that we will NOT...
Read moreMade reservations for 6:30pm on a Saturday and arrived about 6:20pm. Was seated right away, place was about 1/2 full. Took about 15 mins to make our order, which was Garlic Edamame and 3 rolls. Edamame came in about 10 mins, was delicious. Wasn't until about 7:15pm that the waitress came to tell us they are short on Sushi chefs and if we wanted to order something hot it would come out right away. We said we would wait. Finally recieved our 3 rolls about 7:30pm. People that arrived about 15-20 mins after us recieved their food about 2 mins later, not sure how that works. 2 of the rolls had modifications requested and were not made the way we had ordered. Food was still quite tasty but the overall experience was a bit disappointing. However, the manager did compensate our bill about 13% for the incorrectly made food. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Will probably give them another shot at some point, but they're not living up to the...
