Today we tried Ladera Grill in Morgan Hill as it had good ratings. Unfortunately the experience was very unpleasant. We sat outside it was a beautiful day. The server came and brought our menus. They had some items which were specials for today and we decided that we would try them. We both decided to order the Turkey Croissant Avocado and Bacon sandwich and two ice teas with straws. They came back with the ice tea and then provided use with straws that were made for cocktails. They were almost half the size of the ice tea. So you couldn't use them as they we sink down into your ice tea. I had thought that maybe this was a joke or a gage but the server assured me that this was not. As they had run out of straws and all that they had were cocktail straws. When we gave our order we explicitly gave the server directions on how to prepare that order as there are somethings I am allergic to. When we received our orders the sandwiches were supposed to come with bacon and avocado and I explicitly said no sauce on mine and it had a pound of sauce on it and it was soggy. Also there was no avocado on either my husbands sandwich or my sandwich, mine also had no bacon. After we received the food the server disappeared for a long time and we had to call the restaurant and ask for them to send the server out to us in order explain that the order was incorrect. The server wasn't sure if the sandwiches were supposed to have avocado or not he said he hadn't read the menu so he would need to check. He also apologized and said that they had a new cook today. After he had read the menu and realize I was correct and he apologized and said that he had to take my sandwich back and redo it all over, so we had to wait for my food but husband still had his food and they were going to bring him a side of Avocado for his sandwich, as they had forgotten this on his sandwich as well. After they brought my sandwich out the manager came out and apologized for the long delay and that the food didn't come out right the first time. I was taken back of how unprofessional that this manager handled everything. You would’ve thought he would’ve at least said your ice teas are compensated on us or something to that effect after the long wait. Instead he just made excuses that they know that the cook messed up, and while my husband had his food, he had to wait for me to eat, if we were going to eat together. At that point I lost my appetite and we left after paying for the bill. I understand that this restaurant receives high stars and that is why we went. We were very disappointed, we will never go back here again as we are foodies and we could not believe how unprofessional everything was ran. We were planning to go here for dinner because of the review but I am glad we tried it out for lunch first so that we didn't have this kind of...

Visited this restaurant last night. I'm an attractive, single woman traveling on business alone and I was treated like dog excrement on a shoe. I was forced to sit next to a group who were spilling into my table and nothing was said to them, even when one of them loudly demanded that I be placed elsewhere so they didn't have to move, despite there being other empty tables. It was embarrassing. Then I was pretty much ignored for the entire meal. I had to wait to order for an excessive amount of time. No one ever came back after I got my meal to see if it was okay (it wasn't), if I needed more wine or water (I did) or if I wanted desert or anything additional (I did). I waited 20 minutes after my meal before I finally flagged down another waiter for my bill. I had valeted my car and gave him a big tip and my ticket to go get my car. Instead, he handed me my keys and told me it was around the corner and I could go get it. It was dark, raining and the valet had parked it in some dark lot around the corner somewhere. Are you kidding me?!

Regarding the actual food, for nearly $70 for a meal for one, I expect bread that isn't dried out, a steak that is more than fat strips and mashed potatoes that aren't bloody from the steak (that was supposed to be medium, but was bloody rare). I would have complained if my waiter had ever shown back up. The mixed vegetables were limp and both the vegetables and mashed potatoes...

There is a reason we had a 45 minute wait on a Saturday evening and since we grabbed appetizers and drinks somewhere else, it was worth it! First, we were greeted professionally, and the place is decorated uniquely (wildlife from around the world, but especially bears were represented), and each table had seasonal pumpkin or skeleton hand decorations. Since they didn't have gluten free soups, My husband offered me a bite of their in house made New England Clam Chowder. It was delicious and I wish they'd make it gluten free using cornstarch or arrowroot powder as a thickener instead of flour. They are able to make gluten-free accommodations here! I could have had salad but always prefer to have a hearty meal. The filet here was cooked to perfection, and I appreciated my server obviously having knowledge of the menu but still double checking with the cook staff to ensure what options they had to offer me. Not being able to eat gluten is a pain, but they made it so much better! The creamed spinach was rich and decadent so I had a little (asparagus was a healthier option I didn't choose), and the roasted potatoes and peppers were delicious! We had such a wonderful meal we unfortunately didn't have room for dessert! I was planning to try their flourless chocolate cake but was unable. But I will still very pleased it was offered! It was the best meal I'd had in awhile!

Ladera is a fine steak house and we've enjoyed all the meals we've had here. The service is fantastic, the drinks are top-notch and the steaks are prime cuts at reasonable prices (given the cost of beef these days). Their temps are typically spot-on, so no complaints on most dishes... except one, the Beef Wellington. Now, it's my fault and not theirs, which is why they still get five stars. Their dish just doesn't do a true Wellington justice, since the portion of Filet Mignon is too small, the duxelles are replaced with some type of tiny, whole mushrooms and the Prosciutto di Parma is entirely missing, along with the pâté. Both are replaced by sauteed spinach. They clearly state on the menu that it's a six ounce filet, which is not thick enough to wrap properly in puff pastry and therefore, cannot be served in slices. They also indicate there's sauteed mushrooms and spinach, with no mention of duxelles, pâté or prosciutto. So, I knew what I was getting into and they delivered exactly what they promised... I was just hoping it could stand against a traditional Wellington. It can't. We will definitely be back again and again, I'll just stick to the Ribeye. I hope others benefit from my mistake. Besides their choice to put this "Wellington" on the menu, it's a five-star restaurant by every measure.

This is only for the service from tonight. This doesn't effect the amazing food and the manager Chris who are always amazing. Tonight brought my brother and his wife here who have never been here. First off the server Cristina was not great or attentive and not very personable. She took way too long to greet us. Took way too long to get our orders. We ordered my salmon with Picatta sauce and it came out dry, had to ask runner to bring me the sauce. My brother had finished his wine and she passed by several times and didnt ask him if he wanted another till later. We waited a very long time for our desserts. We ordered ice cream and cobbler. Our reservations were 6pm and we finally received our checks at 8:50pm. We were so embarrassed because normally this place is always on point. We watched other tables eat and leave and 3 tables turned over next to us but they had a different server. I just felt she wasn't very attentive and making sure she was on her tables. I know she normally gets great reviews but she was horrible tonight. We will be back but your in the business to provide an experience and that's what we expected when we came in tonight. So disappointed. Hopefully next time we will get that.
