This review is for Jake's Hamburgers. I'm not sure what the deal is with the change in ownership, but the new name made me curious so I did a bit of research...
Turns out, naming or nick-naming someone Eee and spelling it with 3 E's is actually illegal in 37 states because it is completely absurd. The state of North Carolina will allow it, however, the named or nick-named party is relegated to "uncle only" status and is prohibited from attaining "dad" or even "great uncle" status. Interestingly, Article 12.3, paragraph 4, subsection [B], of the North Carolina Naming and Nick-Naming Code does allow for the name to be used for restaurants, but advises against it because it "doesn't flow or roll off the tongue, and is mad annoying to remember."
Jake's had and still has the best burgers in Morganton and the greater Eastern seaboard. I've been visiting Morganton for the last 15 years and it wasn't until walking downtown with my wife today that I realized there were even other restaurants in town..... But we still went to Jake's! As long as the burgers don't change, they can put as many E's in the name as they want! Who's gonna be bothered enough to check the...
Read moreI don’t know how this venue got 4.5 stars unless they have a large extended family. We went there on a Sunday afternoon and must have gotten the skeleton crew or the employees that drew the short straws. Waited at the counter for at least 3 minutes with all 3 employees (2 cooks, 1 French fry maker) glancing over at us without any acknowledgement. There were 5 customers present. I was ready to walk out, but my husband was hell bent on the promised exquisite dining experience. I finally asked if we were possibly in the wrong line, or if they were taking orders today. A young gal finally yelled “oh yes, I’ll be right there” After completing her French fry dump, she meandered to the register. Wearing the same gloves the whole time throwing hands on the keys. •sigh• Placed order garden burger lettuce, tomato w/crispy fries. There were more condiment options for the burger, but it was useless to engage and confuse the girl further. I am only left to ascertain that she had to have been the owners daughter. I musta been as hungry as a POW at Okinawa because that plant based burger was actually tasty. The fries were a bust so there’s that. No...
Read moreBanana milkshake was ok lady taffy instead of real banana flavor biggest complaint tho is the old black man who I’m guessing is the owner really needs to educate himself with the ADA and SERVICE ANIMALS I had my service dog with me and he asked if she was that’s perfectly in compliance with the ADA and u understand she was wearing a harness and not her service dog vest but at no point should he have asked for paperwork of my service dog THAT IS A DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE ADA I won’t be returning never in my time of 5 years living in morganton have I been treated this way with my SERVICE DOG she helps with my anxiety and depression but the complete disregard and lack of knowledge this establishment has is horrible and if he owns a restaurant he should know what he is and isn’t allowed to asked about SERVICE ANIMALS the only two questions he is allowed to ask is if it’s a service dog and what task she’s trained to help me with not proof of paperwork or telling me not to bring her in with me and making it feel like I’m not welcomed there because I have a disability and a...
