El Pollon II Morgantown — Restaurant in Morgantown

El Pollon makes a great chicken and more importantly you won't break the bank getting chicken. Right now the Wednesday special is a whole chicken for $10.50 and it is just fantastic. Juicy, not dried out, chicken with robust seasoning and flavor. Its just great on its own but I like to put any leftovers on a salad the next day.

Check out their web-site/facebook page to get an idea of what the daily special is. Whatever it is I recommend trying it out as you'll get good food and maybe even try something you wouldn't normally.

It goes without saying that the chicken is fantastic but I'm happy to report the sides are as well. I have a few favorites in that category but the two best to me are the green beans and the Peruvian Fried Rice. The beans are cooked to just the right point between having a bit of crunch still but just the right level of softness. The fried rice has bits of the chicken in it and is incredibly flavorful.

Shockingly Delicious

As a six year Morgantown resident, this is one of the best meals in the city. The restaurant itself is very 90's-Pizza-Hut-dumpy (plastic trays, styrofoam plates, plastic silverware), which scared me off for months. The absurdly positive reviews convinced me to try it, and the reviews are right. Even as someone who's eaten peruvian before, this is fantastic peruvian. Get the 1/4 chicken w/ Fried Yuca, Plantains, and an Inca Cola (a cream soda with floral notes). Come at lunch and that same meal will cost you under $10 - making it the best lunch stop within walking distance of Health Sciences.

If this place had the money to hire a dishwasher it would be one of the best restaurants in the city; rivaling Yama, Dirty Bird, Salam, and Table 9. Go here - tell your friends to go here - for as long as these lunatics keep selling their $8...

If I could give zero stars, I would. From the moment I walked in, the experience was disappointing. I had to wait and ring the bell three times before a young employee finally came out. She didn’t greet or acknowledge us at all — it felt like she simply didn’t care.

The chicken was okay, but the fountain drinks were terrible. Something was definitely off, and when I mentioned it, I was told they had cleaned the machine two days ago. She still charged me for water, which added to the frustration. Honestly, those drink machines looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly in quite some time.
