Unfortunately, all the excellent reviews are from the old owners.
When this place was Mo's it was amazing and we drove 45 minutes each way to get there! We loved the owner and his staff. They were awesome. We told everyone about them. When we arrived tonight to we came to find a whole new interior, overly bright lights, sparse seating and a new owner who was not only unfriendly, but was very unsure of himself and put no effort forward to make us feel welcome. He was aloof and pretty much expressionless. He said they've been open for 2 days as if he was warning us he's gonna screw up. Yup. He did.
He was on his phone and had ear buds in the entire time. His focus wasn't on us... The only customers in the store.
We ordered an appetizer, a dinner and a gyro. The appetizer was so burnt it was inedible. Nearly black. He asked us twice what we wanted. We confirmed TWICE (he got it correct both times) and then proceeded to bring out the wrong item and told us it'll be at least 10 minutes for the right one. The gyros he brought out were small and wrapped tightly like he was hiding something. The fries were barely cooked and covered in what was obviously some kind of MSG seasoning. There was no note of seasoning on the fries on the menu or I'd have asked for it to be omitted.
The drinks were canned drinks and bottled water. No free water even?!?!
We couldn't eat the app and one of our orders was totally wrong. I also needed to send my fries back because I'm severely allergic to MSG. He showed no empathy, was more focused on whatever was going on in his earbuds.
We left. We won't be back. Not because of the mistakes, but because of his lack of empathy for what he messed up and his poor excuses for it. Especially when we were the ONLY customers he had to pay...
Read moreI visited here today for the 5th time in the last 3 weeks, since I first found out about this place via Facebook. Falafel has been one of my top 5 favorite foods since I discovered it 12yrs or so ago. I've tried falafel from everywhere I could find in the southeast, all the way to the Halal food trucks in Manhattan, and Mo's recipe and quality of ingredients meets or exceeds the best I've ever had before. Order it spicy with a side of tahini, you'll be glad you did!
Also, today I tried their stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer, which I understand to be in very high demand/limited production due to the fact they're completely handmade and due to how insanely good they were. I've had stuffed grape leaves before at other restaurants, and found them to be good/enjoyable, but Mo's caught me completely off guard with the sheer quality of ingredients, obvious handmade preparation, and just how insanely delicious they were. I'd highly recommend ordering them as a side any time they're available! And whatever meal you choose, don't forget a piece of baklava for dessert!
I'd encourage any Morristown native or passerby to stop at this spot and try it out, whether you're a longtime fan of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine, someone curious about trying new cuisines you're unfamiliar with, or someone with a passion for supporting small local businesses. Mo and his staff are incredibly friendly and more than worthy of the support of the community they serve. Check it out if you...
Read moreThe food tasted great - and we lived an extended period in the middle East,. My wife and I shared a sampler platter and the Macarona Bechamel. The Macarona was a huge serving with a surprise serving of torshi (pickled vegetables) on the side. This was excellent. For our sampler, we chose ful medames, the Egyptian feta cheese, baba ganouj, and falafel. The baba ganouj and falafel were delicious and just as we remembered. The ful is supposed to be of the consistency of chili or refried beans. Instead it was a soup. It had the right flavor, but without a spoon or any way to spread it on bread, we found it very strange. The "Egyptian feta" (the reason my wife wanted the dish) also tasted great, but had apparently been blended with cream cheese and spices to give almost a yoghurt texture instead of the solid, sliceable cheese we remembered. Tahina came with the sampler plate, also, which should be a spreadable paste. This too was liquefied and could not be spread on anything. Finally, if we could spread anything, the sampler plate came with only four quarters of pita, which hardly lasted more than a few dips. Good food, with excellent taste, but strangely presented. No spoons were provided, so I am unsure how the food was intended...
