I don't normally post a low scored review on anything but after the overall experience today, I'd give this restaurant a 3/10. Heads up, this will be a very long and fairly broad review for those interested in visiting for the first time as this was my first time. Starting with the outside: you pull in to a pretty roughed up parking lot with only a handful of front parking, maybe 10 spots. Exterior of the building shows it's age for sure with the sign having been there for a while, a letter 'R' replaced and looks new but not the rest. The air lock, or the space between the double set of double doors, is very small. I was solo this time around but if it's busy, you could fit maybe a group of 8. Exterior, probably a 3/10. Now the interior: you walk in to a kind of winding walkway that has a koi fish tank and it seems a bit neglected. I could be wrong but the water was green. The ceiling is very tall so it feels very roomy, which makes the 4 serving stations seem small compared to the rest of the building. There is a hibachi grill tucked away to the right. Tables and booths laid out with seemingly no pattern or organization. Not a large amount of natural lighting but also not too dim. Tables are not normally a picky thing for me but they were covered in advertisements. Not a lot of style to accentuate the food, not even the wall coverings or anything. Normally, lots of ad space means less self-promotion and more external revenue because the business isn't doing too well. Interior is probably lower, maybe a 2/10. Now for the food: I'm posting this about 2 hours after the visit, which is plenty of time to let your body get to know the food and it is not sitting well. I had a small share of a handful of things, including the hibachi, and I am not a picky eater because I ate a lot but it was not good. I DO NOT recommend eating the sushi. It looks well made but there were 3 kinds and they all sat in open air, no ice or refrigeration. I took one of each to try and spit out the first one. It didn't taste like anything and it was barely below room temp. It's so sad because it looked appealing but I don't trust it. Next is the hibachi, which despite being hibachi, it had no rice to fry. The bins of food were all overflowing and things were crossed into other bins like mushrooms and zucchini in the noodles. The steak and chicken were both thin sliced like they were very processed and the chicken even had frostbite on it. I still made a plate and the guy asked if I wanted any sauce, so I just got simple soy and teriyaki. Took it back to let it cool a bit and made a plate of other stuff. Sesame chicken, Tso's chicken, sweet and spicy chicken and shrimp, and seafood delight. Last plate had 2 spring rolls, an egg roll, 3 fried cheese wontons, chicken and broccoli, and some mushrooms and chicken. I had Dr pepper to drink as well. To sum it up quickly: nothing was good except the soda. I have no reason to not go into detail about it so here we go: Hibachi with just noodles was not a good idea in the first place. The noodles were gummy and the proteins were tender but dry. Everything else was okay. I don't know what sauce he used but it was very bland. Did not taste of any salty good soy or tangy teriyaki. Hibachi was a 2/10. Sesame chicken from the serving stations was tasteless, quite literally. I couldn't even pull a faint taste of Sesame oil or anything from it. Tso's chicken was the ONLY thing I did not finish. For some reason, it has so much black pepper, I couldn't taste anything else. It was kind of nauseating. Sweet and spicy chicken and shrimp was missing the punch of flavor and had undercooked veggies in it. Seafood delight had no seafood flavor at all. Spring rolls literally tasted old. Egg rolls tasted like unsalted cabbage. Wontons had cold cheese in them. Chicken and broccoli was off and had undercooked broccoli. And the mushrooms and chicken were so chewy and bland. Food was a 1/10. Needs salt. Paid $12 for the meal and was triple charged because the receipt printer didn't work and the lady ran my...
Read moreMy family and I ate at this restaurant for the first time after hearing how it had the best Chinese around town. I was SO disappointed. The service was terrible; we sat there with empty drinks more than once. We had children along, and they brought us an absolutely filthy high chair. I had to request that the chair be wiped down. Which consisted of them just wiping the food off the highchair and onto the floor. Most of the food was either too greasy or old, as if it had sat there for hours.
The absolute worst part though was the fact that I had slipped on food twice. I was amazed how much food was dropped on the floor and ignored by staff. If trying to get sushi off your shoe before you eat sounds good, eat here. The hibachi grill was probably the best feature of this place. Not that the grill was anything special, but you see the food is cooked over high heat, so it gives you more confidence that the food is a little more up to standards than the regular food in the other areas and floor. I am interested to see how awful the back of this restaurant is kept.
I recommend skipping this restaurant, unless you are a person who thinks McDonalds is fine dining. (Heck what am I saying, McD's is even cleaner than this place!) If this is the best Chinese in town, go to your local grocery store and buy...
Read moreIt had been a while since I dined at a Chinese buffet. While visiting family in Morristown, my sister suggested Golden Dragon. I read the reviews & honestly was a little scared. When we entered the restaurant, I was expecting dark & dingy, but I was pleasantly surprised by a brightly lit dining room. The restaurant appeared clean & many times while there I saw employees tending to the buffet & sweeping the floors. I started my meal with a plethora of fried appetizer style items: spring roll, rangoon, breaded chicken bite, chicken satay, battered fish filet & a corn nugget. They were all properly fried & tasty. I went back for entree items including beef & broccoli, seafood & veggies, seafood au gratin, chicken & mushrooms & some chunks of beef cooked in a cross between gravy & au jus which were melt-in-your-mouth tender. Everything was delish! I made a final trip to the buffet for dessert. That's actually where they lost one star. The tray of coffee/chocolate cake was terrific. The apple turnover was terrible. The egg custard tart was the best I've ever had in my life!! There was a dead fly in the tray of pineapple chunks. If not for the fly, it would have been a 5 star review. I would definitely return to...
