First 5 times I brought my out of town family here and we were always greeted by 2 very friendly men. I always get a canoli and they always asked if I wanted Bavarian cream or Italian cream snd get half a dozen Italian cookies for my son. The place was real Clean and authentic. Unfortunately that all came to a disturbing end last time I went with my mom , and this frumpy rude resting witch face women with red hair staring at us as if we were interrupting her day it was about 2pm and completely empty mind you.. The place was filthy, everything was stale , old dusty. This lady was rude when my mother asked for a Canoli and asked if we could have Bavarian cream, mentioning our previous experiences we were always asked what cream we'd prefer. She scoffed at us "Noo only canoli cream! Not true" practically calling us liars lol I couldn't believe this lady. 😂 my mom asked if there were any Italian cookies she snarled I kid you not practically foaming at the mouth " ITALIAN COOKING ARE ANY COOKIE THAT COMES FROM A MACHINE" MY Mother and I looked at each other like "what ever the hell that means kind of look " and rolled our eyes. We got these rock hard, stale , cookies, one even had a RED HAIR. SO SAD I loved this place but now it's gone so down hill I'd say a health inspector wouldn definitely not give this place a...
Read moreFound this place via Google reviews and are so happy we did. The people there are terrific, explaining what spudnuts are (besides delicious), chatting, and generally being ridiculously nice and helpful.
We tried the spundnuts and they are amazing. Cinnamon-sugar, cannoli, and Boston Cream were among the standouts. The cannolis were excellent - on par with the best I have had from my favorite Italian bakery in south Philly, and that is saying something. Then we tried the crumb cake. Wow. Stunningly excellent.
Everything was so good, we actually ended up going twice. We were visiting Rutgers for a swim meet, drove to Morristown to see some sights, and came back a few days later just for the baked goods. I'd seriously consider going back (we live in VA) just for the crumb cake - or maybe they do mail order?
Go, you will not be disappointed.
And in case the folks at Verrilli's read these, our delighter did great on her last day of swimming, getting personal best times, helping her team win the championship, and...
Read moreI’m new to the area and decided on ordering from Verrilli’s via Uber Eats. A short time after I placed my order, I got a phone call from Kathy at Verrilli letting me know that my driver had picked up the wrong order and was en route, and couldn’t be intercepted. She sincerely apologized, and then quickly took my address and jumped in her car and personally delivered my order. I have to be completely honest- I was floored. Anyone who uses any of the food service apps knows how incredibly frustrating it is to get an incorrect order. This is the first time I’ve ever had a store owner contact me and personally correct the error, not to mention, happily. Kathy, thank you again, you are an absolute gem and I appreciate your effort to make sure my first experience was a great one! Side note, lol, our meal was incredibly fresh and delicious and the spudnuts, well, wow. Just order them. They are divine. Couldn’t be more pleased with Verrilli’s and I will be a forever...
