Worst Chinese Food Ever !!! Go to Taco Bell !!! My husband and I were passing through Moscow and decided to stop at the Iron Wok. We hadn't been there in over 25 yrs. Upon entering the restaurant, we were quickly greeted by the hostess (wearing maroon baggy sweatpants), as we were taken to our table, I commented that the heat felt good as the temperature was drastically dropping outside. Oddly the heater smelled as if it hadn't been turned on all winter... This is January for goodness sake. We then were brought (2) glasses of water (No Ice) and menus. A young man (wearing grey baggy sweatpants) came to take our order, we both ordered the #7 (almond chicken,s&s pork, chow mein, fried rice) we chose the soft noodle when he offered hard or soft noodles and hot tea. All of a sudden, the temperature in the restaurant began to quickly drop, cold air was blowing in from somewhere. No more warm comfortable dining room. We were brought a teapot and 2 cups, the waiter told us to wait a few minutes before pouring tea to let is steep. Before we even poured our tea, a small older woman came out of the kitchen area, loudly calling out "#7" !! " BOTH # 7" (In an Asian accent) Also, should add there was a large family table in a separate room and 1 other table in the place. My husband and I claimed the 2 plates she was holding and she walked away in loud floppy slipper type shoes. My husband and I both looked at each other and said " we don't get any soup"?? I guess not. Our food looked awful!! I had 5 balls of battered deep-fried chicken with a yellow very runny gravy on top (No almonds of any kind, anywhere) a strip of brown noodles (nothing else in the noodles) in the middle of the plate and 6 balls of battered deep-fried pork with what looked like canned sweet and sour sauce poured over the top. My husband and I looked sadly at our plates and said "I thought we got fried rice?" Moments later the male waiter brought out 2 soup cups with rice (sticky white rice w/ chunks of scrambled egg in it) We poured our tea from the pot that had 3 tea bags in it, that never did brew. We started eating our food, that tasted terrible. The almond chicken was absolutely bla, no flavor whatsoever. (I don't think it was chicken gravy, as first thought). The chow mein was nothing but noodles that tasted like they had been boiled in soy sauce 2 days prior. We drizzled some soy sauce on our white rice and tried it, It was gross. I was not fried rice, and at least it should have had something other than flaky scrambled egg in it. Our male waiter came back and asked if we needed boxes, NOT, how is everything...? Not one time were we asked how our food was, even with 95% of our food still on the plate/soup cup of rice. He brought us 1 to-go box and our bill. My husband went to the counter and paid as I exited the restaurant. To put into perspective of how long we were in the restaurant, My husband and I had been in Kooskia for our son's high school wrestling tournament, when we left the tournament that afternoon our kiddos were loading onto their bus to head for home. The team bus stopped at a grocery store on the way home so the team could get some deli food and then continued for home. As my husband and I were getting into our truck, we saw our wrestling team school bus pass by on the highway that runs alongside the restaurant. We had a horrible experience and even worst food at the Iron Wok. We can and will definitely wait at least another 25 yrs before going back. We should have gone...
Read moreI knew the previous owners and this place used to be fabulous however the new owners are definitely not keeping up the reputation. I was very disappointed to find out the quality, quantity and value. The downside: The food prices listed on there website and on Google are no longer accurate and even when asked the restaurant will not honor the prices that are listed. We purchased a to go order and the portions are about 1/2 of what you would get if you did a sit down order inside the restaurant. However, when in restaurant no one wears mask including wait staff who was eating and waiting tables (without washing hands or hand sanitizer in-between). We got everything we ordered however all the food tasted the same. We ask about there cooking process because we had different allergies in our party. Essentially the cooks only use one large deep fryer, so it's impossible to get any vegan, vegetarian or "un-mingled" menu items (no shell fish, vegetarian or pork separate deep fryers.) ANY FOOD REALATED ALLERGIES CAN NOT HAVE ANY FRIED FOOD! They do not pan fry any of there food. Additionally, they use a single cook surface (flat top grill) and prep most of the food ahead of time so it's nearly impossible for any modifications to the menu items. All the Chinese/Japanese/Indian/Thai restaurants in the larger palouse region are more then willing to accommodate menu modifications and addresses any allergy issues (ginger, shellfish, ect) As well as the items where warm when we picked them up 15 min from original order and no longer warm by the time we got them home when living 8min from the restaurant
The positives: -As I said our group did have food allergies (shellfish or ginger) and the person answering the phone was very kind and helpful. They were very willing to double check with the cooks to make sure no one had any issues and did great on there communication to call us back and clarify to get our order as close to what we wanted that they...
Read moreI was sooo excited to eat here after looking at all the vegetarian option son the menu and reading amazing reviews. I called to place a to-go order and the phone was out of service. I checked the number several times to make sure I got it right. I wanted it so bad I finally just drove to the restaurant to place an order, only to find a small paper sign on the door saying they are closed for the summer. :( No where on their website, Facebook page, or anywhere online does it say this. They could have at the very least paid the $30/month over the summer to keep their phone service on and play a pre-recorded message letting customers know this. Or hey, put up a FB post or update your operating hours on google? I read another post on here saying that the sign was broken so I drove all the way here thinking ok well the "open" sign isn't on but that's normal. The parking lot is super sketchy and the front door was confusing to find. Structural/facilities issues can be overlooked if the food truly is as good as people say it is, but not if you can't even get the food for an entire 3 months out of the year! I'm disappointed to say the least. Will give them another try once they re-open again, but I already have a super horrible taste for the business. The food will have to be BOMB to make me...
