Horrible experience with the special order and catering at Roost.
Called on a Monday to put in an order for 12 cupcakes, leaving a detailed message as asked with my request, name, contact information and an intended pick up date of Friday (well ahead of their 72+ hour request window). By Tuesday at 2pm I still had not received confirmation of the order so I called to try and get in contact with the department and got a hold of a barista, who indicated that the bakery department was not there but she could take a message. Something didn't sit right with me so at this time I also submitted an email to their roost catering email address asking for email confirmation that they had received my order. By Wednesday at 1pm, after I finished up my morning meetings at work, I had still not received any confirmation of my order so I called back for a second time trying to determine if I was going to be able to pick up my cupcakes on Friday. I was then met by another barista who this time told me that the Bakery Department leaves by 10am every morning and her manager was also gone for the day.
At this point, I have no idea if I am going to be able to pick up the cupcakes I ordered for a birthday and it's too late to call any other bakery because it's much to close to Friday. I call back at 9am on Thursday to hopefully speak directly with the bakery in a final attempt to gain confidence that the order was placed. I was informed that they received the phone order and email but did not have the capacity to complete the order, even though they knew about the order on Monday a full 4 days earlier.
I am not upset that they did not have the capacity, what I am most disappointed in is the complete lack of transparency and failure to notify me promptly that they would not be able to complete my order so that I could make...
Read moreStill good, but I feel like it's missing some of the vibe/charm it had when it was smaller. Where have all the plants gone? It seems much more sparsely planted than before, and it's very loud. Also, their marketing and website upkeep has dropped off the face of the earth - I used to be able to check in the morning and know exactly what pastries they had, with pictures (important to know when you're only there for the gluten free stuff). Nowadays, it's nearly impossible to find easily accessible and accurate information. I have to scroll through toooons of merch listings on the website, with food items intermixed, just to find out that their one gluten free pastry is sold out. However, it never seems to be reflective of what they have in store, because if I call, they list completely different pastries. Maybe they just don't care because business is booming regardless? Anyway, I still like their food and drinks (especially the homemade syrups) and I find it to be a nice place to study if you can actually...
Read morePrices stated on the menu should be the prices you pay. No where does it say that there will be surcharges for ingredients on the menu or any signage in the restaurant. We were charged extra for having egg as an ingredient in the menu items, which doesn't make sense considering that there wouldn't be an alternative to making those dishes otherwise. I went in for breakfast and was served cold food that seemed like it had been reheated, the bacon was especially slimy and soft like it had been out for hours. I also was expecting a restaurant where I would be served for the prices, there was no server, everything was self-serve aside from someone giving us our food, we weren't even told that we had to find our own silverware etc. Really terrible experience for going in for the first time. For not getting fresh food nor service, the price was not at all worth it, to make matters worse we even tipped generously thinking that we would get...
