Margaritas Tex Mex — Restaurant in Moultrie

I was so disappointed.

We don't have the budget to go out to eat that often, but I was genuinely looking forward to dinner at Margaritas, as it WAS one of our favorite local spots.

We had not even sat down yet and chips and salsa were being laid out, and we were asked if we wanted queso. We did, so we ordered that and guacamole. Can't complain about the service.

The guacamole arrived...and it was so much smaller, and absolutely bland. No where near worth the $5 price point. And I really wanted the chunky, but as we hadn't even been handed our menus yet, and I felt rushed, just went with plain.

We got the menu's...wow. I get trimming things down because of COVID and inflation, but there were no longer any a la carte choices! We like to try different things, but didn't have the option! No one thing really gave us what we wanted, and we certainly weren't paying for an entire second entree. We ordered our sons meal, and studied the new menu.

The more we looked, the more upset we got. The Molcajete, my go to, was now $36! We finally conceded and asked for the check. Our waitress was not happy about that, and made an effort to address our concerns, but I was just ready to move on.

Chips and Salsa Large Queso Guacamole 2 sodas and a water Kids Beef Quesadilla w/rice and beans. $27, before tax and tip.

I get times they are a-changin', and high prices and less choice are the new normal. But I remember what was, at least until recently. What there is now is like expecting 5G and getting a tin can and a string.

At least our son was happy. Will not...

The food took over an hour to come out. Seriously, people walked in AFTER we ordered and they were finished, paid and left before we ever got our food. We were only a party of 3 so it really shouldnt have taken that long. Then, my order was completely wrong. The waitress told me that I ordered the salad... no Ma'am, I hate salad, I would have never ordered this. She said she would fix it.. but it took another 30 min for my nachos to come out. My daughters were finished by that time. One kid ate her food but my other kid ordered steak.. and yall... this was basically beef jerky! It was full of gristle and she could barely chew it.. it was awful! (See pic! ...thats how she left it, it wasn't even edible). My food comes and it was so gross. The onions and chicken were so greasy... it made the chips all soggy and had very little flavor - other than the cheese dizzled on top and grease. The waitress asked us twice for a to-go box. We declined both times. We didn't eat it here, we sure ain't gonna eat it at home, where I can cook 10× better than that in a fraction of the time! Oh, I ordered a strawberry daiquiri. I'm pretty sure there was ZERO alcohol in it at all. She did refill the kids drinks once. I over tipped her $10 but that was only me being nice... that was terrible service. They weren't as busy as the other Mexican restaurants... and now we know why! We won't be back.

I promise, I am not a complainer... look at my reviews! I usually review when I love a place... but this was so bad, it deserved...

If I could give a half a star for service I would. My husband and a few of my coworkers went to Margaritas this past weekend and the service was terrible. Our waitress was overwhelmed because she was the only waitress working in our area and she was very forgetful and wouldn't write anything down even though she had a notepad. We never received menus or silverware on our table. I got up myself and got them from the table at the entrance of the restaurant. When our food came out we were told that they had to cook the flour tortillas. (but how long does it take to warm tortillas). Once again I had to remind our waitress that we had not received our tortillas. Then a guy came to clean the table next to us and sprayed some type of spray on the table in our direction. My coworker began coughing and we instantly noticed the smell of bleach. My other coworker placed an order for some chicken nachos and had to watch everyone else at the table eat because they were never brought out to him. Then, once we were ready to ask for to go boxes he asked the waitress where was his nachos and she apologized and went and got them and he said that you could tell that they were just thrown together and that they were not good. Oh, and he also ordered a shot and asked for salt and lime. The waitress brought him some limes and no salt. Just a terrible experience altogether. Will...
