I’m a native New Jerseyian/New Yorker and if nothing else, we know pizza. I’ve traveled all over the USA and I’ve tried pizza in 100’s of places. That being said, for my latest pizza craving I tried Joe and Anthony’s Pizza in Flanders, New Jersey. I decided to give their meat lovers pizza a try. In a word, it was SPECTACULAR!!! It had the perfect balance of pepperoni, ham, meatball and sausage all held together with an abundance of cheese. The crust and the bottom were done perfectly, not over cooked nor was it soft and doughy. I have to admit Joe or Anthony (I’m not sure which one made this pie) is a pizza making genius. If you are ever in the Flanders area you have to give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed. He even delivered the pizza to Fla-Net campground where we were trying to keep from floating away from the torrential rains from the remnants of hurricane Ida. Since man cannot live on pizza alone, a day or two later my wife and I decided to try some of their other dishes. My wife ordered the Chef Salad and I ordered the Shrimp Parmigiana entree which came with a side of pasta and a small garden salad. The Chef Salad was excellent. The man is a food mixologist. The salad was a perfect blend and balance of turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions & carrots. On to the shrimp parmigiana. I was truly impressed with the size of the shrimp. They were very large and like everything we tried, cooked perfectly. For the side pasta I ordered the ziti. While there was nothing wrong with the way the ziti was cooked, my personal preference is al dente, however, I forgot to mention that when I placed my order. As far as negatives, I only have two comments... the shrimp parmigiana could have used a bit more gravy (or is it sauce). It’s gravy, being of Italian descendant I can tell you it is definitely gravy. My other comment has to do with the physical restaurant itself. While there are a few tables, it appears that the majority of their business is take out. The table arrangement is good if you’re stopping in for a quick slice or sandwich. But at the end of the day what really matters is the food and Joe and Anthony’s have definitely nailed it. Since we plan on being in the Flanders area for few more weeks we will be giving a few more of their menu items a try. While I expect whatever else we order will also be excellent, however, should that not be the case I will update my review...

The sauce? Fahgettaboudit! It’s like they got a Nonna in the back squeezin' tomatoes fresh off the vine. It’s got that perfect tang, a lil' sweet, a lil' savory. And the cheese? Ya sistas tomatas!!! They ain't cheapin' out on you, it’s piled high, melted to perfection. You bite into a slice, and it’s like a symphony in your mouth.

Read moreHonestly the food is not good at all. The guy literally kicked us out because he forgot to give us a cheesesteak we order. When we asked for the cheesesteak they told us we didn’t order one and then gave us our receipt... perfectly you can tell we did order it and paid for it. When we asked once again they gave us an attitude and told us they was going to make it when we was waiting there already for half an hour. So we didn’t want the cheesesteak anymore. Once we asked for our money back, the guy started mocking my nephew in his face, we just wanted our money back. Then he told us that he’s not going to give us our money back. That’s when we told him to give us the money again and he angrily open the cash register and gave us the money back with an attitude & told all us to get out, and threw all our food when we wasn’t even done eating. Told to get out! Literally disrespectful & not friendly at all I don’t recommend anyone this place & my family & I won’t be eating there anymore. THIS IS...
