A Disappointing Experience at High Tide Restaurant Overall Impression: My family and I dined at the High Tide Restaurant, located in the Embassy Suites in Mount Pleasant, last night. We were very excited after seeing the crowded hotel lobby, assuming the restaurant must be fantastic. Unfortunately, our high hopes were met with significant disappointment, leaving us with a very poor opinion of the establishment. Service & Ambiance: Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly bartender, which was a nice start. However, when we were seated, we were surprised to find only three tables occupied, which immediately raised a red flag. Our server promptly brought water and took our order. I ordered a glass of wine to start, along with a cheese pizza, burger and wings. After about ten minutes, I realized our server had not returned with my wine and was instead casually talking with the cook in the kitchen. I eventually went to the bar to get my own glass of wine. When I returned, the server came to our table and sheepishly admitted he couldn't remember what I had ordered. The Food: The food was the biggest letdown. The burger I ordered had a strange, weirdly clumped texture that was unlike anything I've ever seen. I took one bite and decided I couldn't eat it. I tried to get our server's attention multiple times, but he was too busy chatting with other employees. Finally, as my family finished their meals, he came over. I explained that the burger was inedible. He had the audacity to offer me a to-go box, which I refused, stating that I would have ordered something else if he had been more attentive. He did, however, remove it from our bill. The cheese pizza was messy and completely flavorless. The wings were the only saving grace, but they were very basic, and it's hard to mess up plain wings. Final Thoughts: We had hoped for an amazing meal, especially since the hotel is located in Charleston, a city known for its incredible food. It's a shame that a restaurant in such a prime location could be so awful. My family and I realized why the packed lobby had no interest in the restaurant: they likely know from experience that the food is not good. While the hotel may prioritize renting rooms, it's a huge disservice to their guests to have such an awful dining option. We will not be returning and cannot recommend...
Read moreFirst off let me start by saying our waitress Katie was fantastic! I had no issues with her or the service we received after being seated. My issues come with quite literally everything else! It’s Valentine’s Day and I have a background in F&B, so I completely understand that holidays can be tough for all involved. Even still, the restaurant was not busy. We had a reservation, but still had to wait 45 minutes to be sat. Tried to grab a drink from the bar while we wait, but that took 15 minutes to accomplish. The fried green tomato appetizer was ice cold. The French onion soup was cold and the croutons were extremely soggy (couldn’t even eat more than 2 bites). And to top it off the steak was rare although ordered medium, missing the asparagus side that was listed on the menu, and clearly not cooked over an open flame. For what we just spent on this dinner, we could’ve gone to Hall’s, Oak, or High Cotton and had a real steak dinner. My mistake for wanting to venture out and try something new. All in all, this was a complete bust and ruined date night. Luckily we are Charleston foodies and have been able to experience MANY wonderful restaurants in town, but today we just wasted $200 on a meal that neither of us finished or enjoyed. This place is in desperate need of good management, and a full refresh. The hotel lobby is beautiful, but the restaurant felt like we were sitting in a holiday inn free buffet, with bright lights and cheap floral carpet. Atmosphere is a crucial part of a nice restaurant, and sitting in High Tide made me feel like I took my girlfriend to an Applebees for Valentine’s Day instead of a downtown/mt pleasant...
Read moreIf I could give a half a star or a no star, then it be too much restaurant closed down a half hour to an hour before it was time to close down so I didn’t get any dinner made the whole stay in the whole hotel very unenjoyable because there is no food around. I chose this location because it had the view and restaurant View was nice but it wasn’t worth not eating Definitely will not stay here again. That was my first time ever but for what I spent here I can go across the way spend half the amount of money at least I am around within walking distance of a restaurant if I have to eat fast food, then at least be better than what they have to offer here only Domino’s delivers, and I do not do over...
