If you value yourself. I wont do it again. I booked our vacation here because it was close to the beach. I should have listened to the other reviews. I figured it has the Marriott name on it so it cant be that bad. I was wrong. Well our room wasn’t very clean. The floors were super dirty. You cant tell until you watch your children play a bit and then look at their feet turn from white to sooty. Like I was wondering why the bathroom floor was getting dirty. The ac unit was broken. Like we couldn’t figure out what was wrong and when you turn it off the air in the room gets stale and humid. We just figured it was the typical wall units that work when it wanted. Then we figured out why later when it started to smell moldy. It was leaking onto the floor. I saw the water the morning as I was leaving. I think I read another person review about this. The tub shower curtain was neglected in the cleaning process. There isn’t a vent in the bathroom to let out steam. No door lock on the sliding door. The room we booked I thought the room would be a shower room with a door. The person that said it was great for families was talking about the loud teenagers we had across the hall not small kids. The covers on bed I guess from humidity feels wet- not sure. But it is unpleasant and uncomfortable. The fridge in the room didn’t work so our food was spoiled. You push the button for two hours to cool and it shuts off after. Who knew? It was a first for me. We had to beg for the right set of towels. My husband went to turn towels in with no problem but when he asked for four sets the guy didn’t give it to him. He even asked him are you sure and he was like yes its four. It wasn’t. So my oldest didn’t have a large towel to dry off with. She had to wing it with the small ones. Because ofc we should have checked. The breakfast is a watered down mess with tons of butter. The cook needs lessons! And lastly two hours before it was time to go we had housekeeping come in. The guy knocked on the door I said just a second bc I wasn’t dressed and he still comes in, I guess he didn’t hear me. Like wow. They don’t tell them when guests leave? Still I cant do this ever again. Also the pool is big enough for one person. Seriously its small. Its a joke for the amount of people that go there to stay. When its 95 degrees outside you want to cool off. We have the beach right? Not always bc the waves turned violent because of the pop up tropical storm and we went back to swim...
Read moreWe are here. It is the only hotel in close proximity to the medical facility that I must visit every month that had a room with two queens available. The young lady at the front desk, Gabby, gets 5+ stars. She did her best to accommodate us with a room sans disgusting green couch. She was. Cheerful, competent and very outgoing. I already knew from the call I made from home that only a few rooms have been relieved of these gross pieces of furniture. I was informed tonight that there were more that had been changed out (we saw a stack of the old green put outside) but there is no tracking of which rooms have the new ones. —————————————————————— This was my review after our last stay and Alex called to assure me that all rooms and floors of the building were not the same:
Thank you to Alex, Special Investigator, and Christopher, General Manager of Spring Hill Suites Mount Pleasant, for reaching out to me. I have a much better understanding of why our stay at SHS this past May was not what I expected. Furthermore, thank you for adjusting the price of our stay because of inconvenience. As I said during phone conversation with Alex, we have always loved Marriott. We hope to continue to count on Marriott as a reliable clean, hospitable place to stay.
Alex assured me that should we stay again at Spring Hill suites we should ask for a room in a floor where couches had been replaced and carpet was newer. Guess what?? There is no such thing as a floor where these nasty pull out beds have been removed and replaced. There are a few rooms and they were not available. I feel The Marriott inspector did nothing but placate me by telling me what I wanted to hear. We are back to ground zero. Addendum: we continue to come back to Spring Hill suites in Charleston despite the fact that a large portion of the room is taken up by these disgusting, nasty stained couches. Spring Hill suites, you can do better than this. There have been times we’ve had to pay $400 for these rooms that store these unusable pieces of furniture. We come here out of medical necessity and spring hill suites lets us down with these gross green couches. 05/01/2024 we’re back. We’ve probably stayed here 30 times in the past 2 years because of stubborn spine issues requiring treatment nearby. Everything is good here except for the stain riddled disgusting couches that remain in most rooms. We consider them space consumers since refuse to sit on or place our things on something so...
Read moreMy stay at this hotel was very disappointing to say the least for numerous reasons:
The air conditioner in the room clunked all night long. It was so loud, you could not get a good nights rest. There are NO lounge chairs at the pool and there were NO towels. I have NEVER been to a hotel that has a pool and they do not have lounge chairs. There were also NO towels poolside. Glad I happed to bring my own from home. Ohh and don't let the picture fool you. The pool is extremely tiny. I don't think I have ever seen a pool that small at a hotel, ever! The girl at the front desk was soo very rude to my mom, that at one point I had to say "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE RUDE LIKE THAT she's only asking you a question about a charge on her credit card"! When we first arrived we needed extra towels. I was told I needed to bring my towels that were in the room down and exchange them. Why? I needed EXTRA towels, not clean towels. Made no sense to me. It's nice they have a "breakfast", but it was absolute disgusting. The sausage was cold, the eggs were so watery you couldn't eat them it was flat out gross. They need to bring back the waffle makers. When we first checked in, the telephone in our room didn't work, which was frustrating. I had to call the front desk from my cell phone, just to advise them of the situation. Shortly after, our phone miraculously it started working. The WiFi was spotty at best. Even though it said you were "connected" to the WiFi you couldn't even get on the internet, which was very frustrating to say the least.
With all that being said, the room and bathroom were a great size. I was there from Maryland for a wedding and was looking forward to at least a day or two of relaxation, but that didn't happen with all the problems with this hotel. The location was also good if you wanted to go downtown and lots of restaurants in the Mt. Pleasant area. unfortunately I can honestly say this was not the best experience at a Marriott hotel. I have stayed at numerous Marriott hotels and this was VERY disappointing. There are ALOT of things this hotel needs to work on. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel until they fix...
