Good day, I had the displeasure of staying at 1 of your facilities this weekend on Savanah . We were in Charleston, SC for our daughter's wedding and the funeral at Mother Emmanuel ame. We stayed at ALoft but my husband moved us to your place for a romantic last night alone. While transitioning to the reception, we dropped off our dog. My husband asked if there was a pet waiver and the front desk person whom was barely listening, said NO. He walked her in and left. By the time he was almost at the reception hall he got a call saying that our dog barked and that he had better turn around now or she was going to call the police and the pound and if we didn't want to go pick her up from the pound then come back and pay a $50 deposit! This was a long run on sentence, not a response to any objection!!! The threat was unprovoked and shocking. My husband turned around and went back. He missed his first FATHER-DAUGHTER dance ever! He missed the TOASTS. He missed the CAKE CUTTING. We are from Cleveland, Ohio! She will never get married again! There was no issue at ALoft where our other children stayed, which is on the other side of the city! We should have just driven back there first. Then the next morning while gathering our things from a very long and late...unromantic night, thanks to the threats of police and him missing the reception. My husband asked for a late checkout at 10:06 am. The same front desk person told him that she wasnt honoring any late checkouts and slammed the receiver down! Wow! He called back to ask what time checkout was and she said 11. By that time our other kids were there (all adults/college students) to help pack up our trucks for the 13 hour drive and my daughter heard the woman tell a man he could get a late checkout! We had no time to freshen up, so we missed church. Why was your person so angry? I could hear that through the phone. My husband was really shaken and this is rare for such a happy guy. She also wouldn't give us extra pillows,...
Read moreAs a traveling team, my husband & I do our best to give truthful feedback and constructive criticism. Hampton Inn is a trusted go-to where we always expect a clean room and comfy beds while traveling. We came to town to write a Google contribution on budget friendly stays, in and near, Charleston. Location: while this is an affordable option & Mount Pleasant is a safe place, we didn’t notice street signs for Sessions Way, so when we got to the vicinity, we drove around & around as GPS got all mixed up & we struggled to find the hotel which is tucked behind another property. Check in was smooth, front desk clerks were nice. Our room was spacious and clean. We did notice that we could hear the person next door in their bathroom. The wall felt like it lacked some insulation. Not sure. The person sneezed several times and we could hear it clear as day and flushing as well, which kept me awake. We would also like for the hotel to do away with placing clean towels over toilets. According to research, water spray can reach up to 4.9 feet above the toilet bowl. Most of the spray consists of tiny particles that are invisible without special equipment. There is a lot of empty space below the sink for built in towel cabinets. Designers need to work on this for future hotels. Staff: In the morning, as I tried to get my coffee, what appeared to be housekeeping or kitchen staff? Not sure which one, but she walked up to get a coffee stepping in front of me, and as I approached to look at breakfast options, another employee stepped in to grab a yoplait/yogurt. I have never encountered employees at any hotel we have stayed at, ever do such things. Not professional. If a manger is reading this review, please talk to your staff. Other than what we shared, Hampton Inn is still a good value. A short car ride to Charleston & the beaches as they are convenient from this location, once...
Read morePros: Stefanie, stellar front desk service. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was mostly clean. TV had Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming services. It was quiet.
Cons: Brekfast was kind of gross, aside from waffles, surrounding area was pretty rundown and the lobby smelled like stale cigarettes (staff smoking right outside the door). The bathroom sink drain wouldn’t stay open so it kept filling up with water, I had to reach in and unplug it. Also, billing errors, they authorized my card for an extra night. When I called to inquire about it instead of owning up to that mistake, they told me this is how it is supposed to be, and when I questioned that they doubled down on that. When I reiterated that this was a SECOND room charge, and I know this is not how it’s supposed to be, they tripled down, I simply didn’t want to hear anymore excuses so I called customer support for a 3-way call with management. Finally got a manager on the phone who confirmed that it was an error and I said “you could have led with that instead of gaslighting me and telling me this is how it is supposed to be” To which she essentially said well, we are talking to you like this because of how you were talking to us…meanwhile the woman who answered the phone repeatedly telling me their mistake wasn’t a mistake and that I was wrong over and over again, along with their authorization taking money out of MY budget for 3-5 business days is what got us here. The audacity is beyond me. Then the manager said she would open up a request about our interaction, to which I said, please do. I hope they dig into this. The initial conversation should have been, “I see we authorized an additional night in error, my sincere apologies, let me see what I can do to fix this” but coming AT ME with attitude like it was my mistake, was their...
