I spent 3 years in Vietnam in the Peace Corps so I feel that I am somewhat qualified to speak about Vietnamese food. I ordered the beef Pho and it was completely lackluster. The broth had a weak flavor and it was a very tepid temperature. Because of broth being basically, cold....the vermicelli noodles were not cooked through and they were still crunchy. The portions of the bean sprouts, the basil leaves, the parsley and the hoisin sauce was dismal. And the beef was not cut thinly, yet like almost cubed and with pieces of beef fat masquerading like they were actual beef slices. Gross.
I tried about 4 bites and I gave up. It was terrible. Pho should not taste like this. The broth should be steaming hot and full of flavor. The beef slices cut razor thin so they cook quickly in the broth, lots of bean sprouts, condiments etc for adding to your Pho...and I definitely did not get this version at Little Miss Ha.
You are much better off driving to Rivers Ave in North Chas and ordering Pho from Pho No.1 restaurant or Phoung. And their Pho is a much bigger bowl, incredibly more delicious and about 4 dollars cheaper. Honestly, eating here at Little Miss Ha, I now feel like I am "Little Miss Been Ripped Off by sub par Pho".
I definitely will not be back and I will let my friends and family know in MTP to...
Read moreI absolutely love this restaurant. I've had dinner here at least once a week while in town on business for the past two years. This past weekend my wife and I were in Charleston and we stopped in for dinner before going to the hotel. At this point I've met the owners and the manager and staff all know me so I might be a little biased but this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been visiting weekly. The food is always excellent and the staff is very, very friendly and on point. My wife is vegetarian and she was very happy with both the flavor and quality of her meal as well as the wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options. As for value their prices are absolutely on par with, if not better than, similar restaurants in the Charleston, SC area.
Pros: Family friendly, indoor and outdoor dining, extensive Vietnamese menu with GF, vegan, and vegetarian options, quick service, friendly staff, full bar, and a calm / enjoyable atmosphere.
Cons: Parking can be a challenge but there is ALWAYS some available.
I'm partial too their following dishes: Mom's eggrolls, dumplings, shrimp spring rolls (best I've ever had), bao buns, beef pho, and banh mi.
They always please!
P.S. Big shout-out to...
Read moreFirst time here, and I don't plan on returning. This makes me sad to say because I was really excited to try the food here and support the business.
Although I love the additional presence of authentic Vietnamese food in the area, the food I ordered was not good. I had the bao buns and pho, and they were both very lacking in flavor. The bao buns overall did not taste very good, and I think it was the beef that was not very flavored. The buns were very soft, but dry. On the other hand, the pickled carrot and daikon were pretty tasty.
The pho was very disappointing to me. The broth was lukewarm when it came out to me, and the taste was very, very bland. I had to use a lot of hoisin sauce and sriracha to get it to taste flavorful, which was really not my goal since the broth is what makes this dish. Also, there were barely any noodles in it, which was unusual in my opinion.
I truly hope the pho improves here and the business does well, as I'd love to support it. I just can't justify spending $15 on a bowl of pho that I don't...
