During a recent visit with my grandchildren I was charged 70 cents extra for substituting Big Mac sauce for the standard mustard, ketchup, pickles, and onions on a double Quarter Pounder meal which I didn't notice until after we sat down for our meal. The Mgr on duty, a Miss Nieto, was very defiant, rude, and refused to refund the 70 cents even after I pointed out that it was a substitution and that nothing was added to the burger. I first complained directly to owner Rand Knotts who claimed the charge was mandatory due to McDonalds Corporate requirements and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. I then complained online to McDonalds Corporate, received an apology email, then later received a letter from Cheryl Knotts who wrote "We also can't ask every employee to individually review the substitutions and make a choice whether to charge or not. It is our policy that any substitutions or extras be done so for a fee". The response from Cheryl Knotts confirmed that it is the policy of the franchisee Rand Knotts Enterprises Inc to charge for substitutions which is consistent with my experience at other McDonalds restaurants owned by different franchisee's that do not charge extra for substitutions. As a former loyal McDonalds customer of more than 45 years, it is a shame to know that Rand and Cheryl Knotts refused to make it right, have such little regard for my patronage, and could care less about alienating a frequent customer over 70 cents. I have and will continue to make all my friends, family, and associates aware of this unacceptable customer service experience with Rand and Cheryl Knotts and...
Read moreWent to the drive-thru to order, and my first clue that it wouldn't be a good experience was when I heard the order taker say "what?" to the car in front of me. When I get to the order board, a nice, polite voice greeted me and asked if I'd be using the mobile app, to which I replied no. She then asked if I'd like to buy two apple pies for something or other but I was really just waiting for her to stop talking so I could order. I tell her no, but thank you. Then I hear nothing for a few seconds, and then I hear the same lady taking the order of the car in the other DT lane beside me. I guess she was upset I didn't buy her pies. So I sit for about 40 seconds or so, wondering at what point I should say something, when a male voice comes on and asks me if he can take my order or something to that effect. I tell him that I had ordered such and such with a bottled water. He asks 'with what?' so I cup my hands (I often have to do this anywhere I go if I'm in drive-thru, it's a curse) and repeat with a bottled water. He simply tells me to pull around and that was all I could take so I told him to not worry about it and have a good day before driving off. Whatever happened to good customer service? I worked in fast food for most of my life and never did the customers that way. It's just a different generation, I guess. He was probably playing on his phone as it is. I'll go there again eventually, but hopefully it will be on a good day when they actually care about how they treat their customers, who are the reason they are there in the...
Read moreI had by far the worst experience at this location on 07/03/22. After waiting in line for about 10-15 minutes, I approached the speaker to place my order to only receive from the other side, “It is 11:00, and we are closed and are no longer taking orders.” My clock literally read, 11:00PM. I explained to the person behind the speaker that we had been waiting in line for several minutes, and there were more cars behind me. I inquired about their normal protocol to notify customers that they’re closing, and will no longer take orders, even when there are cars in line. The person provided the most insulting, rude response to me, “there are people like you…” She then repeated herself saying she was not taking any orders, and left the speaker. I was later able to obtain her name, in which I will of course speak to someone further about. What is most disturbing, is that I do not live in the area any longer, but after speaking to several others who do live in the area, stated this is very common behavior from this location, as well as the manager, Macie, which is who I was speaking with on Sunday night. Most people will rather drive to the other location on the other side of town, to bypass the poor customer service here. It is AWFUL, and quite embarrassing for the city of Mt. Pleasant, that this is the closest one to the interstate and I’m sure they receive numerous of visitors from out of town or even out of state. This truly is a poor representation of Mt. Pleasant hometown country love, that I know is there. I’m...
