I truly hate to leave a local business a negative review but what transpired this evening was truly shocking. Our group of several parents and kids came in and put our name on the list to bowl and were told we’d receive a text when the lanes were ready. We bought arcade cards to keep the kids busy while we waited. There were 4-5 games not working in the arcade room which was really disappointing. Also, the restaurant had completely run out of food🤯 Like, there was ZERO food. After waiting for about an hour I went to the front desk to check and see how much longer the wait would be. Lisa, the manager, was short with me and rude and never gave me a time frame. She had zero customer service skills and just blew me off and said the lanes weren’t ready. Another 20 minutes went by and she gave us the same response and was extremely rude. We were finally able to get some help from other employees who couldn’t believe how long we had been waiting. After 2 hours we finally were seated at the tables to bowl. Just to provide reference, there were several lanes empty the entire 2 hours that we were waiting. Another employee, Mary, was so kind and helpful and apologized and helped us finally get seated since the manager, Lisa, was no help at all and just giving attitude. At 7:45 we were finishing up and Lisa walked by our table out of no where and muttered “it’s time for y’all to leave” in a very nasty tone as she walked by. Totally passive aggressive and for NO REASON. We hadn’t had any issues while bowling, played only 2 rounds (after waiting for 2 hours!) and were packing up to leave. Keep in mind this was at 7:45 and Mix doesn’t close until 9pm. I was completely shocked. I ended up having words with her and couldn’t believe how she was treating customers. This “manager” never once apologized for the crazy long wait or for literally not having food. She was just rude and nasty the entire time we were there. One of the other parents in our group said she experienced the same nastiness from Lisa a few weeks ago when she was there with another group. This woman doesn’t need to be anywhere near customers. On top of all of this, the women’s bathroom had no toilet paper, was dirty, and one of the stalls was out of order. This place has amazing potential but with this lack of leadership, it will close within 6-12 months. P.s.- I was in food and beverage for 10 years and never leave bad reviews for restaurants. I know how hard this industry is. But if this business is going to survive, it needs competent leadership from someone who knows how to deal with people. And Lisa AIN’T IT. Thank you to Mary and the bartenders who were kind and sweet and tried their best to help. I hope you all get a new...
Read moreI’ve been here multiple times, always trying to give it the benefit of the doubt because it’s such a great concept, but the service is dismal in more than one way, and it clearly stems from management. I’ve watched the same manager give attitude or reprimand someone every time I’ve visited and only one time was it warranted when someone was throwing the bowling balls too hard. In our last visit, one of the games got jammed for multiple parties so someone went to find help and the other employees quickly said that the machines weren’t part of their job function and that the manager was busy with paperwork in his office. The other parties around us were very patient (all things considered), and waited for him to reemerge from his office to help fix the machines so we could all continue the rounds of bowling we had purchased. When he did, he was angry and muttering accusations that we jammed the machine, without letting us explain what had actually happened. Our party as well as the one next to us quietly closed out our tabs and left before we finished our rounds because it wasn’t worth the treatment. I actually tried to talk to the manager during my prior visit and he threw up his hands and walked away from me when I was trying to tell him that someone (on a different bowling lane from our party) had accidentally jammed the ball return for our lanes…completely unintentionally. I work in service and I’m often on the receiving end of criticism, but his reaction was completely unwarranted. This incident was not unique unfortunately. Ball returns and games jam…completely understandable. But he’s ruined our experience on more than one occasion, and once was a birthday party that we had spent a lot of time planning and hundreds of dollars trying to make special for our son. I would be happy to give him my feedback face to face but he literally will walk away from it. The fact that there’s no way to talk to an actual human via email or phone indicates the level of service they’re willing to offer–their website and answering machine further prove this. We go months between returning because we have left disappointed from service (specifically the manager’s) and have gone back against our better judgement because it’s such a great offering. It’s a shame that management has such a poor service model they’ve set for their employees to follow and don’t make any effort to qualify their level of service to match the offering of their amenities. A better approach to how they treat customers would go such a long way, and that starts with management....
Read moreFirst let me start by saying I was very hesitant on actually staying here. We walked in, no one at the hostess stand to let us know to have a seat & someone will be with us shortly. So we walked around for about 5 mins, saw a lady asked her how does it work here? She told us for food we could pick an empty table and someone would be over to take our order & as far as games (Bowling & Axe throwing) We would have to go to the hostess counter and put our name on the wait list. We found a table sat there for about 15 mins and absolutely no one came over. I saw one of the employees so I asked him who was responsible for the table where we were sitting? He responded "I can take your order for you! Let me get you guys a menu". After he gave us our menus, he gave us his suggestions! (Very helpful). I ordered the O.G burger for my main meal and loaded potatoe spuds for an appetizer, Both were really good choices. I also ordered an adult beverage (I don't remember the name) But it was also really good. Our server Rob was beyond amazing the entire night, no matter where we moved to in the building he made sure we were good the entire night. Checking to see if we needed any drinks, more food etc (I really appreciate the great hospitality). Also they had a DJ in the building that was also a huge plus for me! He was really good, played a mixture of music, even a song from a local SC rapper. He kept the good songs coming back to back! Awesome job to the DJ! So even though our night didn't start off too good it ended GREAT! We played bowling, AXE throwing, ping pong and the other arcade games inside the building. They have free games that you can play outside which was great & also a bar outside as well. The decor outside is laid back and cozy. They have swings, Xlarge connect four and other games you can choose from that were absolutely free. Also I forgot to mention the guy who signed us up for bowling and AXE throwing was very helpful and he had so much patience. (This was our 1st time so I had questions after questions). I can't say that they're expensive because I think what we paid including a 33.00 tip for our server was well worth it. The wait times were 45 minutes for bowling and AXE throwing. This was understandable because it was a Saturday night and they were very busy. I really enjoyed myself at MIX, It's definitely a good vibe! Also no kids after 7pm!!! (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS IDEA)!!! Thank you MIX for an amazing experience. I would 10/10 recommend...
