It makes me so sad to post this because this has been my “go to” lunch spot for the past 3 years, but I am absolutely disgusted and need to warn people about my experience.
I went to Cantina 76 today and was served two tacos - the soft flour tortilla shells were both covered in spots of blue mold. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t notice until I was halfway through eating the first one. The manager came over to apologize and comped my meal.
While apologizing (this is where it gets extra gross), he admitted to me that mold on the flour tortilla shells have been an ongoing issue for them and they typically sort through the bags to toss out the moldy ones. This was alarming to hear - just because you can’t see the mold, doesn’t mean it’s not there. If one tortilla in a bag is visibly moldy, the whole bag is contaminated with spores and needs to be discarded. That’s basic food safety.
I have reported Cantina 76 to DHEC and unfortunately will not be going back ever again to my once favorite lunch spot. If they continue this unsafe food behavior, they are going to get people...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in a beautiful AirBnB for our babymoon that was within walking distance to Cantina 76 and we ate here twice while visiting Charleston for a week. As a pregnant lady I was really craving guacamole and queso both of those items here are absolutely delicious. Honestly it is some of the freshest guacamole I've ever had. This place isn't "fancy" but has some delicious food, I promise you! I personally loved the shrimp tacos and the surf n' turf tacos. My husband had some type of bbq tacos I believe (I wasn't really paying attention to his food as I was VERY intent on eating my meal LOL) and he raves about them as well. Don't pass this place up for a casual lunch and/or dinner. Oh I should also note that the food is incredibly affordable. I believe each taco was around $3-$4 or so. Like I said don't sleep on this little gem. ...
Read moreI was out shopping with my sister in Mt P when we passed this cute place. I quickly checked the menu online because she has a picky 7 year old and I can be kinda picky too. We decided it was 7 year old friendly and I am so glad we went! We started with guac and salsa, which along with the tortillas were fresh and tasty. My niece ordered a fish taco which she quickly devoured and sang high praises about. I got two types of chicken tacos which were excellent and a side of mexican street corn, which was good. It's a cool, spread out. casual place with TVs and a bar, but where we sat in the back was kind of crowded. The women's bathroom was super small to me and I'm average sized. A larger person might have a struggle moving about. I think there was a family bathroom but I did not use it. I can't wait to return - the price and the food...
