Erik's DeliCafe of Mountain View - Grant Rd. — Restaurant in Mountain View

My wife and I eat here often because she has a gluten sensitivity. If you ask, they'll make sandwiches with (Udi's) gluten-free bread. They'll also make a house salad gluten-free: leave out croutons, substitute potato salad for the pasta salad. I don't think they use a separate prep area, so beware if you're very sensitive, but it's fine for her.

The food is tasty, filling, and healthier than most fast food, although it has more sodium than you might expect.

The decor is nostalgic, with a lot of Americana like an old carbide mining lamp, hand-operated cooking implements, and patent medicine tins. We often get take-out and have a picnic in nearby Cuesta Park instead.

Service is always prompt and friendly.

Erik's is where I go for a quick lunch near home. It's a step up from Subway or Togo's. Their menu is healthy and has good variety (the basic sandwiches, soups, salads, and wraps), and I'm always happy with the quality of the food. They are about average price for quick lunch around here, you can get out for around $8-9 if you stay away from the extras like soda and cookies.

Come to think of it, I'm actually amazed that their meats, in particular, are both substantially less processed than at Subway or Togo's, but also if uniform quality. Somebody has figured out their employee training, I think.

The Erik's on Grant here has a boba tea place around the corner. My kids always talk me into getting boba with their sourdough clam chowder bowls. Erik's doesn't seem to mind us...

I am a very regular to this place and keep picking my sandwiches. My favorites are del monte and farmer’s market sandwiches. Ingredients are always so fresh and each sandwich is loaded with tons of ingredients which is difficult to put together at home. Staff is really friendly and super helpful. They always make accommodations for any and every request. I always call them to place order and now the guy recognizes my voice :). I downloaded their app which is very convenient to place order and add loyalty points. If you forget to add points while buying, just scan the bar code on receipt to add the points later.
