Tried Mama's and Son for the first time, and had a good experience. We ordered the sampler platter that included 4 meats, and it was a good amount of porkchops, chicken, fish nuggets, and sides for our family of 4. The service from the server and "Mama herself, was friendly, warm, and inviting.

The AMAZING: the fried fish, bbq chicken wings, fried whole chicken wings, and pork chop. Also the attentive service from Mama and her server was great.

The just ok: the mac n cheese, sweet potatoes.

The not so good: saying the restaurant needed a cleaning might be too harsh, but we felt like the restaurant could use a little "detail". The salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce bottle, etc, did need to be cleaned. It appears that the customer restroom is shared with other businesses in the building, that was the worst part. It does not appear to be owned by Mama's and Son restaurant, but customers use it. The building management should address the bathroom, so the businesses like Mama's that allow customers to use it don't get blamed for the nasty and smelly bathroom.

Will go back, and highly recommended for great soul food and portions. 4 stars for...

This is one of those places where the friendly faces and the smell alone says it all!! Made me feel like i was back home . The The staff and im guessing one of them was mama, either way made me feel very welcome and more than once made sure the food was as good as I expected ( maybe because i told her how good my greens were that i make and id have to put hers to the test , lol) Im a man who can surrender when i know im beat and surrender i did to all the amazing food that was served up on each plate i made , and i made several. If you love a great southern style meal ( soul food) as much as i do , there is not one single thing you wont love. By the time i left ( and with a very happy belly) and a comfortable heart and a smiling soul, i felt as though i had been going in there for years. Im not sure there was a stranger in the entire room even if we didnt know each other we all had something in common and a huge smile was among those things!!
