I often look at google reviews and when looking at one star review I often feel that the reviewer is writing out of pure emotion or is being overly dramatic in their assessment. But after much reflection and time thinking about it, I can tell you that I’m being honest when I say this arcade was a one star experience. This review focuses on just food service and game experience.
I decided to go to Main Event because both me and my partner have gone to and enjoyed several arcades together. We went to Main Event because we were able to get a discounted gift card. When we first entered we planned on getting some food. So we walked over to the restaurant and were informed to pick a seat and wait for a waiter. After 25 minutes of trying to get the staff's attention without any luck we decided to just play games and get food afterwards.
I mean it when I say both me and my partner have a lot of experience in arcades. We can honestly say this is the worst arcade we have been to. I am not being dramatic when I say that every other game me and partner tried to play would break down. It was comical that we got on a first name basis with the game tech because he basically had to follow us around as they broke.
After repeating this cycle through several games in the arcade we went to play "Quick Drop", being a skill based game, we were able to win it three times before this machine also "stopped working" and stopped counting balls—I put this statement in air quotes as it was most likely a fail safe to make sure nobody wins too frequently on it. In this case we didn't need to find a game tech as within 30 seconds of this, a game tech, who I assume to be the main "game tech", walks up and angrily opens the machine to "fix it", after which the game was completely impossible to win—this is not an abnormal thing, as corporate arcades function much like casinos, but it is the speed of which they pulled the plug which I find highly strange.
Here is about half the games we bothered to remember that we had problems with: Planko The Basketball Game Quick Drop Power Roll The Ticket Coaster Football Pusher The Ticket Dome The Play Box JJ Boy Avatar Air Hockey
After several more game glitches and telling the game tech about broken games we were finally able to get through the last of our game chips.
Again, I am aware some are going to find the one star review a bit dramatic, but I myself wish I could leave a 1.5 star review because the one game tech that kept helping us out was really nice but the rest of the experience was terrible.
If you are wanting to go to an arcade in the Murfreesboro area, I'd recommend any of the others or and even going to Dave and Busters in Nashville—which also has its issues but is at least three stars better than this one. If you do decide to come here, skip the arcade and focus on the bowling.
With how new this business is, it's terrifying to think how bad these machines are going to run in the next 4 or 5 months if they're already breaking down this quickly. It is telling however, how quick they were to respond when someone was winning tickets versus servicing the machines with...
Read moreMy husband and I have been going to this place for awhile now and have always loved it. But after yesterday it has left a bad taste in our mouth on how we feel about it. We had been drinking, but had just had our third (his fourth) beer for the night when we were told we were cut off because we were laughing too hard and on the floor… for a fact we weren’t, because for one my husband is 6’2 and getting on the ground is hard to do lol and for me I was literally taking pictures (it’s our one year marriage anniversary). At first we thought we were getting mixed up with someone until our server came up to us and asked if it was resolved and when I told her absolutely not and still needed to speak to a manager— we basically never saw her again. Also, she gave us some attitude saying they watched camera footage of us all over the ground laughing. 3 beers will not do that to even the lightest of weights lol, but she sucked and tried arguing that we were too out of it. The manager finally ended up coming and giving us free bowling passes which was really nice, but still not what we wanted, because we were just trying to celebrate our anniversary and got accused of being too drunk by our waiter which the bartender said we were perfectly fine and had served us another drink while we waited for someone to tell us what was going on. He was extremely confused one why she was cutting us off when we had been there for quite some time and only had a few drinks. Ehhh we’ve been huge advocates to going to this place over stars and strike, but after one extremely bad server it’s left us not wanting to go back… like we’re very understanding people, both have worked in the customer service industry. If we were too drunk we would've accepted a loss, but we were just on our 3rd drinks and perfectly fine. To say we were too intoxicated bc we were laughing too loud and apparently all over the floor is insane, god forbid you’re having fun, but seriously who tf was on the floor bc it was not us lol. Like we asked if we were playing too rough bc we were playing a game where you have to hit the bumpers and it said “too rough” and banned us from playing that game and the workers said we were fine. Typically we have the vip room, but I guess because we didn’t splash the extra cash our server came for us. And crazy she could’ve been tipped amazingly since we were celebrating our anniversary, but we think she was being racist. And let me say, my husband doesn’t like throwing that around, but we couldn’t figure out why we were too much and too drunk other than that. Or she’s super young and has no idea what an over intoxicated person looks/acts like lol. I really wish I remembered her name so people could avoid her too. But overall, anytime we’ve gone here other than this time we loved the atmosphere, service, drinks, food and games. Should definitely try it out, but stay weary of who your server is bc this was a...
Read moreMy son and I came to Main Event for our first time back in February and had a terrible experience in the dining room. Our second experience here was no different than the first and I wish I made the drive to Dave & Buster’s in Nashville. The lack of service here in the dining room is unbelievable. Upon entering, I made eye contact with the bartender behind the bar. I noticed there were plaques on the booths to please see a host for seating so I greeted the bartender and asked if my son and I could sit in one of the booths. She nodded her head yes and continued cleaning behind the bar. My son and I choose the cleanest dirty booth, which only the table needed to be wiped down. The other booths had not been bussed yet or had crumbs and stuff on the tables still from the previous guests. I’m looking at the menu, reading the options from the kid’s menu to my son when I realized that about 10 minutes have passed and no one has come by to greet us. I’m looking around and make eye contact with the bartender again and she immediately turns her back and continues cleaning her bar. At this point, I can’t believe the same exact thing is happening to us again. My son and I get up to leave and are just a few steps away from being out of the dining room when I hear her try to get our attention, but it was already too late for that. My son and I go redeem his points and I ask the girl working there what time the kitchen closes and if there was a manager on duty on the floor anywhere and she didn’t have a clue. She said she could only tell me how many points we had on our card. My son is looking around for what he’s gonna get and I was curious how the points worked and asked her if I could pay the difference for something in case he picked something and was short on points. She tells me they don’t do that and then points to the smallest prizes on the very bottom that are between 30-60 points and tells me those items are in the claw machine. LOL I’m glad they don’t allow guests to pay the difference for prizes because this place doesn’t deserve any more of my money, which sucks because my son loves to play games and we live less than 2 miles away. But we’re better off making the drive to Nashville and we were better off getting McDonald’s when...
