Been going here since they opened. The sweet tea and potato salad are our favorites. Come from Florida to see family and make it a point to stop by. Today we went by to order a gallon of potato salad and two half gallon teas. A gallon is 36 dollars , I simply asked for it to be put in pint containers instead of the tray. Manager John Burgess was quite rude and matter of fact stating I would be charged for four quarts because it is not in a tray and I would be getting more that way. I would have happily paid the 36 dollars for what is fair , just wanted them in containers and it’s never been problems before. He could have said if we do it that way it will be a pint short is that okay? Nope, just very rude and very dry as well. Not a happy person. I told him we had gotten it that way before and Mr. Tim I believe I even met you and we talked about a year or two ago because you’re familiar with Gainesville area we’re even thinking of coming down branching out. You’re a very nice guy it seems. Just don’t know why they would charge you 56 dollars for potato salad. That should be 36. I wasn’t trying to cheat anyone out of any money or food but they fit better in a cooler to take home to friends that way. Just very upsetting, I work in healthcare and would never talk to a patient or a patron like that. I said that “ I’ve met the owner who is nice and this has never been a problem before” to which he jumped right to “well I’m the manager and if you talk to the owner tell him John Burgess told you...
Read moreThe actual food was great, the employees not so much. I try to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they just got hit with rush hour traffic or some other element out of their control, and not judge an entire business on one encounter. However, two encounters is a different story. Both visits, the inside young girl was entirely too preoccupied with teenage boys who were visiting. Our orders took forever, and upon final delivery we noticed they were incorrect so my husband went back in to request the missing items. An apology and instructions that the items would be brought out to the vehicle. He returned to us and we all continued to begin eating the items we already had as our children were hungry. After completing our task, we still didn't have the remainder of our food so he goes back in and is met with waiting in line to speak because a conversation is ongoing between the cashier and the non customers who have been hanging out. She apologized and offers a tiny container of banana pudding for the wait. Ten more mins and we finally receive our french fries but still do not have four of our sides so frustrated we just chalked it up as a loss and left. The food we received was good on both occasions but not for the price and definitely not for the frustrations or wasted time. I would still recommend this business simply because both visits were during a holiday period and one or two situations should not define the entire establishment. I'm sure we will try it again...
Read moreI have known the manager Hobbit for over a year now and everyone has talked about how amazing this place is but for some reason it took me this long to try it out. Boy was I missing out! I expected it to be money well spent but I did not expect to have one of if not the best southern style comfort meals I have ever had. We ordered the half rack of ribs with brisket mac and cold slaw and the pulled pork sandwich with bacon and cheese added and it also came with brisket mac. Both meals were immensely satisfying down to the last detail. The meat was succulent and flavorful. It had substance but also melted in the mouth. The Mac had bits of pork in it and was delicious and the slaw was crunchy and refreshing with the perfect taste. My sandwich was perfectly balanced and the ribs fell off the bone and were delicious with perfect flavor. To top it off the sweet tea was on another level. It had that taste that only the best sweet teas have that almost taste like a Thai tea if that makes sense. I have lived in the south for seven years now and have only had a sweet tea that good one other time. This is without a doubt the best thirty three United States dollars that we have spent in the area since I moved here. Props to Hobbit and his crew here at one of the best places to eat in Murphy! The customer service was also top tier. Hobbit explained in detail and with a smile everything we needed to know and handed us our food with a smile. Big Nicks is...
