Let me start by saying that I am very critical when it comes to Indian Food as I grew up in India. When I visited Bombay Palace in Murray with my wife, I felt close to home the moment I walked in because of the eclectic Indian decor, warm and welcoming hospitality of the staff, and of course the aroma of Indian spices that ignites your senses and make you feel alive. Bombay Palace is a much needed Indian Restaurant in Murray area. Now we don't have to travel too far to have flavorful Indian meal.
The menu was diverse with food items from all over India. We ordered some onion pakoras (onion fritters) as appetizers with Kingfisher beer. We got our food very quickly and the pakoras were very tasty and had minimal oil dripping from them and the batter had enough spices to tickle your taste buds and prepare for the meal. While enjoying our appetizers, we perused the menu and made the tough decision of finally zeroing in on only two entrees from all the super yummy dishes on the menu. We ordered Punjabi Dal (spicy lentil curry) and Lamb Rogan Josh (Lamb cooked in bright red sauce) with Peshawari Naan (bread stuffed with pieces of nuts and raisins and mild spices).
The moment we finished our pakoras we got our entrees with a nice bowl filled with flavorful and steamy basmati rice. I first tasted the lamb Rogan Josh with a piece of soft, warm and fluffy Peshawari naan. The first bite released a burst of flavors in my mouth and provided me with a transformative experience of traveling back home. The lamb was cooked to perfect texture and imbibed the spices really well to provide a flavorful taste. The Punjabi Dal was also amazing with very authentic North Indian/Punjabi flavors. While we were enjoying our food the wait staff checked in with us multiple times to see if we needed anything and refilled our water and beer as we were gulping them to wash down the food. After we finished our entrees we took a moment to reminisce the amazing culinary experience we just had. Then, to our surprise, the restaurant owner Mr. Lucky Singh walked to our table with two beautiful cups filled with the dessert "Kheer" (Indian version of rice pudding). It was the perfect way to end the meal as the Kheer had the perfect blend of softly cooked rice, sweet but not too sweet milk, hint of cardamom, and nuts.
Bombay Palace indeed is a top-class Indian Restaurant in Murray area with an amazing menu and excellent hospitality. We had wonderful time during our visit and we can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. I am 100% confident that if you like Indian food this restaurant will exceed your...
Read moreWell we tried to order food to go. They were out of several items on their menu. And also out of all nann but garlic and plain. Grrr.. they said they sold out. Someone ordered allot. but there was only one person in the resteraunt eating. One person waiting. The people that were eating i think worked there. We decided not to place the order since they were out of nann and some other DISH WE wanted to order. I was surprised they didn't offer any way to accomidate us since it was there opening night. Oh well. Wanted to like this place. Now I don't care to eat there. Especially after reading the reviews. All the reviews left seem to be all related "from" this resteraunt. But i don't know 4 certain. So my recommendation is to """wait for some more legit real reviews""". Not from the staff. " We love Indian food but dissapointed... I was waiting for this place to open.. was happy they were close to us. 𫤠we went back. They had to check again to see if they had any peshwari nann. Shouldn't that be made fresh? well one person eating but our togo order took 35 minutes. I thought it would be better. fresh. not.. I thought it looked good. But I opened my DRY piece of nann and there was NO filling. 3 mushy raisins. Wich I took a picture of because it was so shocking. DRY and hard as a rock..! I honestly could not chew it. By the time we ate our dinner the Nann was hard as a ROCK, COCONUT korma chicken. no flavor, bland and also none of the ingredients were in it that were listed. The chicken tasted tough like beef.. The samosas weird taste! By far the worst item. Super GREASY, OILY and just an odd flavor. Tasted nothing like any samosa I have ever tried. Seriously 7 11 prob makes better. That was an expensive meal to be so bad. Someone left a review saying a big bowl for 10.00 will fill you up.. I missed that on the menu$$$$$ save your money! Eat anywhere else.. sad.... why didn't I listen to my intuition.. back to India house for us.. thai times...
Read moreWe only waited 5 minutes for a table and everyone is always so friendly. I've been here two times and each time we're greeted by friendly faces. We had two stragglers in our party and they still seated us. Which is great.
We got the assorted snacks for the appetizer, I have to say that I was not impressed with the onion bhaji but everything else was very well made. The samosas were the best though. They had so much flavor and were hot and delicious.
My mom, husband and I all shared the Lamb Chettinaad, Chicken Coconut Kurma, and The Fish (Makhini). The fish was honestly so surprising, it melted into the curry and had a beautiful buttery taste, everything was well balanced and it was honestly one of the best fish dishes I've had. The lamb was great too it was perfectly cooked, and had great flavor, I'm not a fan of mild spice, but it's necessary when sharing. The Chicken Coconut Kurma was also full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Honestly Bombay Palace has some of the best curry around. Everything is always fresh and they have great prices. The Naan is also the best, the peshwari naan and the garlic are our favorites.
The surprise of the night was how good the desserts were. The Pistachio ice cream is hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. It has plenty of pistachios and is absolutely heavenly. Honestly I will be thinking about this for a while. The kneer was also fantastic all the flavors were so well balanced and the rice was perfectly cooked and the cardamom flavor of the dessert was spicy and perfect.
The people are kind, the restaurant is super clean. Lucky the owner is just the best. They make everything with attention to detail. It's my favorite Indian place in...
