I decided to try this little place on the whim. I really didn't expect very much because of the location and general appearance. I ordered the General Tso's chicken with spring rolls and hot and sour soup to go. The service was good and they were very friendly. While I waited for my order I went next-door to shop at the dollar store, and when I came back a few minutes later the order was ready. The food was pretty good, and the portions were generous for the price, but the chicken and the soup were both spicier and hotter than I am used to getting in a Chinese restaurant. They were both good, but I was almost unable to finish because they were so hot. The prices were somewhat questionable. They state that to go orders Receive a 10% discount, but then tell you that the menu reflects the discount. So my seven dollar dinner ended up costing me nine dollars with tax. There is something wrong with somebody's math here. The restaurant itself was reasonably clean, but it was poorly lighted and extremely hot. They had a fan going to draw in air from outside. I don't know if the air conditioning was broke or if they just turn it off to save money, but no sensible person would have eaten indoors in that place. Seating is extremely limited, with only a half dozen tables. So I would give it four or five stars for the food and service, but their pricing and ambiance bring...
Read moreI ordered takeout for my birthday, in remembrance of the oddly-spelled but nevertheless merry British punk band "The Adicts" and picked up the food at the restaurant.
The food was ready extremely promptly—in fact, driving from the University district in Salt Lake City, I would have been hard pressed to outpace the kitchen, even though I left immediately after phoning in the order. The service was terrific. Very friendly and kind people run this restaurant.
The Kung Po shrimp and sesame chicken are both good exemplars of typical American-Cantonese cuisine. The egg rolls are crunchy and tasty, and portions are enormous. (Our meal for two ended up miraculously feeding my partner and I, plus three other random housemates, so I'd say it is very good value for money.)
I didn't see much of the dining room, so I can't evaluate the dine-in experience, but everything is new and very clean, with a modest ambience that could lend itself to business lunches or a...
Read moreHands down, the best Chinese food I've had in a while. I always get their dinner box. It's Cashew Chicken, Spring Rolls, Ham fried rice and egg drop soup. Before I would get their Sweet and Sour Pork and Egg Roll. Can you believe the size of the Egg Rolls?? They're almost the size of your fist! (Which is pretty awesome!) The food is always warm and cooked to perfection! Please support your mom and pop restaurants! I recommend them whole heartedly!
EDIT: Over the summer I took my mom her to eat Chinese food. It was great, other than the fact that the chicken wasn't cooked properly. Every one of us got food poisoning. I overheard one of the employees tell the cook that he needed to cook the chicken longer and I wish I would have taken that as a warning. My mom already had health issues and then to make her sick all night because of it? I used to love this place. Now, I warn against it. Eat here at...
