Worst restaurant ever. And I don’t say this lightly or after just one visit. Before we even get to the overpriced/mediocre/male you sick an hour later most times food, it is the single worst excuse for pressure service anywhere. We had to give it a number of shots different days and times to confirm that it wasn’t just one bad server or a busy Friday night push.
It’s not. Clearly the management requires everyone in this smallish place to hound and oester customers with high pressure push to take your plates before you’ve even chewed your last piece - in fact, multiple times they asked if they could take our plates BEFORE we even got our food. And the worst part is saying no has no effect. They come by again, the. again, then again.
The second you pick up your last piece of sushi to eat they swarm and start taking your plates as you try to chew. Then, still before you’re done chewing, they ask, ‘Anything else?’ and force the check on you. I’ve sent them away multiple times and they keep swarming until you give in. You can say plainly; were good right for the moment, and they just send someone else over, and again you can say, were just sitting for a bit and they’ll bring the check anyway.
This happens even on a slow weekday night. Clearly management is heartless and money-focused and lacks all of the warmth and commonsense that makes a restaurant something you want to go to. They should really be at a mall so they can just hand sushi to take away.
And of course at $9 per order or with rolls that have medicore/fish mixes, we’lo never go back again. We thought it was just busy Fri night issues. It’s not. It’s the sweatshop of sushi places, except also expensive - with no reason to be. We go out all the time and o ither restaurant literally makes me angry every time and feel completely harrassed and pressured by the staff to eat and leave immediately. And as noted, most times you are sick 1 hour later. We’d thought maybe the hot summer was the issue. It’s not.
Sorry we gave them another chance. Never again. If you want to enjoy a meal, go anywhere but here - even Subway...
Read moreVisiting from Hawa'ii we wanted to eat our weekly Sushi. Based upon high reviews and brother's suggestion, we decided to check this place out!
We arrived 9pm on a Monday night, business was slow and we had an appetite! There were 4 of us that ordered a Crazy Roll, two Crunchy Rolls, a Firecracker Roll, and a Funky Monkey to start off with. As we waited patiently for our food, we watched the table next to us receive their order one by one and we talked amongst ourselves.. About 40 mins passed, the same table finished and paid the bill. I asked our Server why is our order taking so long, her response was they are backed up. Let me remind you the Restaurant was slow with a few tables seated. When we received our Sushi Rolls, it was ok. We each just had a couple bites in Rolls and our Server had a serious facial expression asked if we wanted to order anything else, it's last call kitchen closing. Not only had we waited so long for our food to arrive, we barely had much time to enjoy the first round before ordering more. Nothing sparked us wanting to come here again especially after the slow and unfriendly service.
If you're looking for a decent sushi spot and don't mind waiting at least half hour - forty minute wait while it's slow then this...
Read moreI really am not sure how to review this restaurant. We have been going there for years and have really enjoyed the food. Even take out was great, the quality of the fish, the size of the portions, and the price. Hana was our go to place for sushi. In the last few months there has been a change in all these areas. The cost has risen. (I understand the challenges for restaurants today) The fish quality is really where we have seen the biggest change. They have changed to very low quality fish for the sushi and sashimi. We went today, this is the first time I did not finish what I ordered, and did not ask for a box to take the remainder home. Two weeks ago we had ordered for take out. The order was missing items, and the seafood salad was basically a green salad with a few pieces of fish. We wanted to go in today because we thought it was probably just a new chef (I use that term loosely)that made our take out. I guess the new owner is not worried about return customers or thinks his customers are ignorant of what good Japanese food is. I know this sounds harsh, but just relating my experience. We will have to find a different...
