Whatever happened to "The Customer is Always Right?"
My boys absolutely LOVE Dairy Queen. We go to DQ on Cal Oaks almost EVERY FRIDAY after school for Blizzards (and we have a carpool of five kids). We frequently go to DQ on the weekends for dessert. I buy my boys DQ gift cards at Christmas and on their birthdays. My entire family (in-laws, cousins, etc) LOVE the DQ ice cream cakes and almost always order one when we all get together to celebrate a birthday or holiday.
SO...why the one star rating, you ask? Because of how my son was treated during a visit to DQ on 8/28/17 at about 12:15 in the afternoon. He and his friend walked to DQ after they got out of school this day...it was an "early-release" day, so they were going to get a Blizzard and wait for me to pick them up there. His friend ordered and paid for his blizzard, then my son ordered and paid for his. The cashier asked if he wanted his receipt and he said he did not need it. They went and found a seat and waited for their ice cream...soon, someone brought his friend's blizzard...and then they waited...and waited...and waited...twenty minutes went by and my son still hadn't received his Blizzard. He went to the counter and spoke with the SAME cashier who had rung him up just minutes before...the cashier asked if he had his receipt. My son kind of laughed and answered that he did not, but that "you were the one who rung me up!" Well, the cashier said that without a receipt, he couldn't do anything about it. Now, my son is fifteen and he isn't one to raise a stink or question someone who he perceives as being in authority, so they left and walked to Carl's Jr, where he got a shake instead.
Yes, my son asked the cashier to throw the receipt away...but that SAME cashier refused him his blizzard because HE HIMSELF had thrown the receipt in the trash?? Just twenty minutes before? He honestly could not remember a customer he had helped twenty minuted before? Could he not have checked in his trash can? I'm sure it was right there by the registers. Maybe it was busy and he honestly didn't remember my son, BUT I have worked in fast food places and I could always remember a customer who came back with a complaint within a reasonable amount of time. And I also know that, if there was ever an issue such as this, the customer WOULD have been right and would have been given the Blizzard. Maybe they are distrustful of the teens who head to DQ after school?? Sounds discriminatory to me...sad that they would lump every teen-aged kid into a negative stereotype of rowdy, trouble-causing teenagers. Who knows what he was thinking?? He certainly want't thinking of making his customers happy, though.
This one incident of poor customer service is going to cost a lot of customers...I have told my family about it, shared int on FB, and we have started getting Slurpees after school on Fridays at the 7-11 nearby. We won't be ordering any more birthday cakes from them and Sunday desserts will not come from our local DQ. I know DQ's are franchises, so hopefully other Dairy Queen locations won't have such a customer un-friendly policy. That one Blizzard is going to cost them more than the $4 they took...
Read moreHad been coming here for a while but had a tramatic experience that had stopped me from ever going back. One day I got a sandwich and there was a hair hanging out. Oh well it happens but when I took off the bread to remove it discovered 6 - 8 more short black hairs. I went back to return the sandwich and complain. I showed the cashier the hairs and she took the sandwich to the back and retrieved the manager. When the manager appeared to refund me she didn't even look at me and just started refunding me; no apology or anything. So I brought it up and she says that it was probably just towel fibers if there were hairs. I was more than a little irritated that she seemed to be doubting me and making excuses. I told her to go get the sandwich. She goes back and comes back without it. She tells me the cook through it away. I said go dig it out of the trash then. She does brings it to me and miraculously the are no hairs. I take my money and leave.
Bottom line I was probably the victim of a disgusting kitchen staff prank and the victim of an incompetent, rude manager. Stay away folks lest...
Read moreI want to say first off I never write reviews. However I feel like I have too.. I went to get some ice cream and I pulled into the drive thru I didn't know if it was closed or not but a male asked if wanted to order so I figured it was open I mean why else would they ask that..well I asked for a min to see what I was going to order. Then I was ready to order and I got radio silence...I kept saying hello and nothing so I pulled up to the window and I get a female telling me they are closed which is fine however she gave me the most rudest attitude and look ever, not only her but the male employee also gave me the nastiest look ever as if he didn't just ask me what I would like to order a few mins ago..I know it was my fault for not checking the time but why ask what I would like to order if you are closed? I find that rude and very unprofessional. I hope that wasn't the manager in there because that is unethical to teach to...
