You see so many enthusiastic reviews of this place, so we tried it. Total was almost $90, for we had the food delivered. I am here to announce without a trace of a doubt that this place is not all that, and actually I am now convinced that the people (no chefs in the house, that is for sure) that made our food, do not eat it. They are way smarter than that. Following dishes were ordered: Egg Rolls, $3.95: yes, we know, everyone makes them. These ones were very narrow, and lacking enough filling. What appeared at first a good deal, was anything but. 1 Star. BBQ Sliced Pork, $5.95: an insult to decent BBQ pork. Old tasting, overcooked, smothered with enough of this deep unappetizing sauce that could almost double as light paint, stale meat that basically told us we had stepped into a culinary land mine. Try Sam Woo's in Irvine to find out how it should be done, a total disappointment to any eater that knows the real deal. 1 Star. Salt and Pepper Calamari, $6.95: rings of calamari lightly battered and breaded, this plate had its merit, but cabbage overshadowed the calamari in quantity. Still, better than the two described before. 3 Stars. Wor Won Ton Soup, $6.50: one container, so if a large family side is desired one will have to dish out $13, which makes it quite expensive, compared, to let's say, Red Ginger's. Some of the vegetables were past the point of no return, very mushy, but overall must be said that the broth was not saturated with sodium (a well known practice in lesser quality soups of this type), and the chicken was tender and the one or two shrimps (they are a little stingy perhaps, but trust me, they are not the only ones) made this well known soup quite enjoyable to the group. 3.5 Stars. Beef with Schezchuan Garlic Sauce, $9.25: covered in deep brown sauce, which part of it was black bean sauce for we would see the little indicators, vegetable overcooked, beef tender, but then again if there is one thing Chinese has mastered, is the art of tenderizing just about anything, no guarantee of quality beef, just tenderized. Gooey mess, was rejected by 50 % of eaters. 2 Stars. Lemon Chicken, $8.95: I think they got a frozen breast of chicken, defrosted it, and cooked it very badly and had the audacity of charging their price. Must say that the sauce (on the side) was the color of orange, not overly sweet and they did send a very generous container, and since it is paid for I will use this sauce on a fish I been trying to create. 2 Stars. Mandrian Shrimp, $12.95: I think it was a typo, and what they were thinking of saying was Mandarin Shrimp. Either way, the plate consisted of ridiculously small shrimp covered in the same type of batter that sometimes is used in Sweet and Sour Pork. Not crispy at all, fall apart wet, about 90 % batter or whatever their concoction was, and 10 % Shrimp. A fiasco of monumental proportions. 2 Stars. House Chow Mein, $7.95: think noodles with not enough of anything else, overly cooked, sticking together like putty, half of it went into the garbage disposal. Cheap mentality leads to cheap eating. 1 Star. One might be fooled that their prices are nicer than the competition, and they would be wrong for their servings are not what one would call average. Their quality of food makes them one place where only in light nightmare will be revisited. The after taste, and the joint effort to consume anti acid pills (better safe than sorry) leaves a lot to be desired. Basically good money went vamoose with absolutely zero satisfaction for the investment. Oh, but they do have their acolytes which sing them praises, but check this out, if this place is truly a 4 Star, then a really good Chinese place would have to be a 12 Star, and that is just not going to...
Read moreThis restaurant does not treat all the customers equal. As a black American Woman I see this restaurant treat caucasians and Asian customers way better than they treat me. One time I came to this restaurant and I stood at the counter for about 10 minutes before the owner said can I help you. Also one time I brought an Asian friend along with me and my Asian friend was treated better than me and I brought them a new customer and still I was not treated with the same level of respect as the Caucasian and Asian customers. There's a bench in the back by the entrance one day I entered into restaurant waiting for my food and there was a Asian man sitting on that bench when his food was ready she walked it to him and told him thank you for his order. When he left I sat on that same bench when my food was ready she placed it on the counter and said it was ready. Just recently I went there to pick up a order because I was doing doordash there was a man working in there with bright pink hair. I went in told him the name of the customer he said the food was ready I signed for the food but I did not see a drink because the order had a drink. I asked him is the drink in the bag, he said oh it has a drink, I say yes, I told him what drink it had. And I stood there, he was doing paperwork, he was doing receipts, he was talking to the owner and I'm just standing there and he's acting like I don't exist So eventually I said are you going to make the drink and he told me to wait a minute there's no issue. I'm standing there in shock like there's no issue, so is he trying to turn this around like I'm trying to start something, when clearly he's treating me like I don't exist. When he supposed to be making a drink for me so I can deliver this order. So I complained to the owner lady and I told her I don't know if this is racial and he smiled at me the owner looked at the receipt and said oh doordash and I said whether I'm doing doordash or not I still need to be treated with respect. And the pink hair guy started asking me where am I from I said I am an American citizen and he said no what state are you from and I repeated it again I am an American citizen he said are you from California are you from the south and the manager stood there the whole time and did not say anything to this guy that is tearing down her business. I am never stepping foot in this restaurant again as a customer. And I contact doordash and let them know what happened and I will never be receiving a order from this restaurant through doordash again. Doordash said there was going to do an investigation and I hope they do because no one needs to go through that when they are picking...
Read moreHow to start this... well i don't know where to honestly begin. There are to many good things to write about this place then i can imagine. Lets start off with me. I am a 17 year old Caucasian male. Who very much enjoys Chinese food and has (lets face it) gone through a lot of chains that absolutely suck, had terrible service, and to top it all off food quality was a bit on the ugh! side. But Jade is anything but that! ill start with the food since that is what every kid and adult usually worrys about. Ya know how most places you find that occasional bone or infamous "fatty piece" 15 meals there and still no fat or bone absolutely in every way a perfect piece of meat. Now the meals there are made to order so you can get any dish they can serve if they have it which in my terms is a limitless playground for "culinary experimenters" The food like clockwork has taken less than 15 to 20 minutes to get to you while being cooked to perfection so in my opinion excellent wait times and when it is served it is a hearty portion of what you ordered so you know you are getting your moneys worth when you eat there. But the one thing i will applaud more than anything is the family welcome and air of friendliness. Almost as if you were best buds when you walk in that door you are practically family and then next time you go there after your first time you might even be surprised that she remembers you I know i was. Actually more like shocked but you get the point anyways I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH IF YOU HAVE HEARD BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE THAT IS NOT TRUE THAT WAS THE PREVIOUS OWNERS AND NOT THE NEW ONES. THESE NEW OWNERS ARE IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNERS AND YOU SHOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A CHANCE. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT IF YOU READ THIS AND ARE HOPEFULLY PERSUADED TO GO TELL THEM JON SENT YOU. AND I REALLY HOPE YOU COME TO LOVE THAT RESTAURANT AS MUCH AS I DO P.S. ORDER THE BOBA TEAS THEY ARE FRIGGEN BOMB. P.P.S. I AM A 17 YEAR OLD YOUNG BUT I KNOW "GREAT" CHINESE FOOD WHEN I SEE IT THIS IS THAT SACRED PLACE GO THERE NOW!!! AND THA THAT THA THATS ALL FOLKS. oh and lastly order the curry fried rice with no vegtables except peas and carrots and white meat chicken. That is...
