It was a fair amount of people there and the staff was friendly and our waitress was very attentive ...in the beginning. Then she must have went on break because when she came back she couldn't stay off her phone (still on break?) and we let her know we needed the bill and a to-go box and she said, Okay yes and then back on her phone and brought only the bill, disappeared quickly before we could say another word. So my husband goes to pay for the bill and asks for a to-go box and she points to our waitress and says she can get it. By this time I was getting annoyed and walked up to the counter where two young people chit-chatted and glance at me (as I wait) and continue their conversation while our waitress walks over and starts talking too while one fills up a drink cup. I basically had to raise my voice to get their attention when an older adult walked over and told them to get with the program. Food was good, they could really go with a slightly larger plate that they serve the food on because just picking up a hot dog will make some of your fries fall off the plate because there's no...
Read moreHusband and I stopped by here for the first time Saturday night on our way out to watch the sunset over the lake. I got chili cheese dogs, fries and a Coke. He got the same except got brats with sauerkraut instead of chili dogs. We waited to eat until we got to the lake, about a 15 min drive later. My chili cheese dogs were still so hot that I had trouble picking them up at first. I was pleasantly surprised they hadn't cooled off more by then. The hot dogs themselves were actually pretty good and I am picky about hot dogs tasting too hot doggy (I know at least some of you get what I mean by that). The chili was tasty and the cheese was melted and plentiful. The fries could have used a bit more salt, but to be fair they asked if I wanted salt and ketchup at the drive thru window and I said no. Their fountain Coke was also really good and no, not all fountain Coke is the same. My husband loved his meal too. They were really filling and very reasonably priced. We will...
Read moreI had my first G&L chili dog when I was in high school, back in the 80s, when it was downtown. They had a huge flat-top grill at the front, with a big picture window where folks walking by (back then, that was a thing downtown... people walking around) could stand there and watch in awe as the person tending it would cook dozens of hotdogs at a time (probably burgers, too, but I only remember the hotdogs). 9 times out of 10, I get the chili dog special (2 chili dogs with fries), but, occasionally, I get a grilled cheese sandwich and onion rings. My husband loves the burgers. He says they remind him of the burgers he could get when he was a kid (he's 70 years old) in Oklahoma. The menu is fairly simple, but they have something for most anyone, and their prices are some of the best you can get these days, especially for the 'special'. I highly recommend you give the...
