I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Lugos Pizza recently, and let me just say, this is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. I’m from Fort Smith, AR, and nothing around here even comes close to what Lugos is serving up in Muskogee, OK.
What really made the experience special was getting to talk to the owners. They took the time to explain their journey, how they spent over 15 years learning the craft, attending the New York Pizza Convention, and dialing in every detail of their process. I was blown away to learn that they ferment real, active yeast for three days to make their dough. That kind of care and craftsmanship shows in every bite.
Even more impressive, they told me how they spent time perfecting their recipe specifically for the Muskogee climate before opening. That level of thoughtfulness and commitment is rare and it paid off.
Now I’ll be honest, from the outside, Lugos might look like a bit of a hole in the wall. But in my experience, those are always the hidden gems, and Lugos proves that 100 percent. When you walk in and see the owner working behind the counter, you just know it’s going to be good, and they didn’t disappoint for a second.
Whether you're a pizza lover or just someone who appreciates real, quality food made by passionate people, you owe it to yourself to try Lugos. This place is the real deal. I’ll be making the drive from Fort Smith regularly....
Read moreI've been meaning to try this place for a while, so I was pretty excited for this.
The ordering process was very simple. They don't do their own online ordering, but offer it through a third party but it was still a good experience. They offer phone and in-store ordering as well.
In terms of prices they are pretty average for a pizza place.
At atmosphere wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It's very casual, with a big, wide open space and no real barriers between clientele and the food/ovens. The only part that was really a problem for me is that the worker who was taking pizza from the oven to cut and box them was not wearing gloves.
I really don't care if food service employees wear gloves to prepare food that's going to be cooked. But when handling cooked or ready to serve items they should always be wearing gloves.
Now, the food itself was ... about average I guess. I don't care for their pizza crust and would prefer a bit more cheese, especially on the cheese bread. But otherwise it was pretty good.
Not entirely sure if I'll be going back, honestly. I'm a little on the...
Read moreBEST PIZZA IN MUSKOGEE, period! Proper NY pies right here in Oklahoma. The crust is incredible: thin & crispy with just the right amount of char on the bottom, but also soft. The tomato sauce is perfect: fresh and not too salty and overdone with a bunch of herbs, garlic and stuff. The toppings taste fresh, making this, in my mind, the perfect slice of pizza. I don't like cheese pizza myself, but I always get a cheese pizza when I visit Lugo's! That's how good it is.
I should explain my atmosphere rating. This is take-out or delivery only: there is no place to eat in. However, the kitxhen is open with a glass panel separating the prep area, so you get a great view of the guys putting your pie together, which is honestly fun to watch for a foodie like me. And they are always super friendly.
Due to the location, parking van be difficult, but you are just taking your order to go anyway. I have honestly never had a problem getting a parking place.
Do yourself a favor and order from Lugo's to experience pizza done...
