Overcharge by charging "extras" that are literally advertised as being what you are paying for, as well as actually charging extra for the choc. syrup in a chocolate milkshake. The first time I stopped in, I got a sundae, off the picture on the wall with the price shown, charged dollars more for "extras." Couple days later, stupidly went back in for a choc. shake that they added a couple more bucks on , so I said "I want my receipt." Then, it took me over ten minutes after I disputed the extra charges to get them to give me the receipt for what I had paid for! Instead of just giving me a receipt... which never had come out of the register... the young lady went in the back to confer with her dad, who never came forward. After their weird and creepy prolonged whispered convo, she tells me that somehow a receipt was not able to have been generated ... on a cash transaction that just happened a minute ago..... So, she proceeds to then punch in a NEW transaction for the shake and had to literally open the register to get it out.. On THAT receipt, it came up as a milkshake ... and a waffle cone, which I never ordered or received, and she then told me that's how "syrup" comes up on their register. . . as a "waffle cone." Looks to me that Daddio's is rooking the tourists on a nickel and dime level and also not providing receipts on cash purchases. The ice cream was good, but the proprietors seem like they're not reporting cash purchases, and instead of passing that fab profit onto their customers, it seems like they are scamming them, as well. I guess in their professional ice cream store opinion, they are "winning" on both ends. In the end, I just told them what I thought (what I just wrote here), gave them a disgusted look and left. Wasting 20 minutes and $7 and change on a 10 oz shake on my vacay wasn't worth more time than that, but I vowed I'd actually write a review.... which is virtually unheard of for me to do. I rarely to never quibble about a few bucks, but their obvious over the top crookery and so-obvious lame attempts to "cover it up" was just too irresistible and amusing to pass up dickering over, lol. I guess most people just pay the inflated prices and move on. So, my suggestion when visiting Daddio's? When and if you go here... request a receipt and review it. The resultant show alone when you see it and question the WTH-of-it is worth the inflated bogus...
Read moreFirst time trying what we thought would be a good ice cream place. It’s grossly, grossly overpriced considering what you get. A $3 sundae at Dairy Queen tasted better than this which cost $8 after tax. Small portions for the price. I’d recommend a decrease in price or increase in portions and/or to not charge for toppings like syrup or whipped cream. Not the best quality ice cream either, kind of tasted like it had frozen over for being in there a long time... idk nothing better than you could get a whole half gallon of for in the store. Honestly store brand like Breyers or Publix good quality would taste better. I love ice cream but struggled to want to finish my 2-scoop for $5.59 only because it wasn’t creamy. The shop is small and maybe would be good to have a few tables outside. We sat on the concrete ground, which is fine with corona and everything, but overall quality wasn’t great, you could barely understand the people working there, and the prices were off the wall. When we called ahead they answered the phone with “What do you need?” Or something that threw me a little, lol. We wouldn’t go back if we...
Read moreExcellent ice cream and service! And thank goodness no chocolate in the cotton candy ice cream!! Great homemade ice cream!... And in response to the review with the "roach", it was probably a Palmetto bug. They keep the door open for customer convenience and, surprise, we have bugs in the South! It wasn't in your ice cream, it was on the glass.
In response to the review concerning the banana split, Daddio's is a busy place. A banana split is a banana split. Jo is one of the friendliest people I've ever met. I'm sure she was not rude, maybe just busy.
Daddio's is a third generation Mom and Pop homemade ice cream shop. I'm proud to be a patron of this Myrtle...
