After reading the reply from the owner to my initial review I felt the need to clarify some details. My reply to this post is simply to help other customers make the most appropriate choice for them and & their family. I myself have worked in customer service for several years and I personally believe that just as customers should be courteous & respectful to owners and their business, i too think that any and all businesses/ restaurants should be open to constructive criticism. My 1 star rating is not the only low rating I have read under their reviews nor was it disrespectful nor was it “lying” as the owner states. I’ve recently started reviewing different locations we visit to help others such as myself that rely on such ratings. As I mentioned my family & I did not enjoy our experience at this restaurant. This by far was one of our least favorite places. The restaurant was not busy (there were only two other couples when we arrived and as we ordered - not what I would consider busy). They had just recently opened when we had arrived and there was only one waitress. Which is understandable being that is more common in most places after the pandemic. However, the staff was not very friendly nor approachable. Furthermore, We have been to high end restaurants from $200 a person to low end restaurants it’s all about the quality and quantity that you get for your buck. When I mentioned that “the worst part of it was paying for the overpriced food.” We paid $72.25 for two adults and a child and this was only breakfast - 2 tuna avocado toast with two poached eggs, 1 coffee, 1 croissant 2 egg whites, small piece of bacon, 1 crepe. We included an 18% tip regardless of our opinion of the food and service. All of this to say that during OUR visit, service, and food our feedback was not pleasant. I appreciate your honest reply although could be deemed a...
Read moreAn amazing place for dinner, not just breakfast and lunch!
We had an amazing dinner at a restaurant called Old Town Crepes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with another couple, long-time friends.
It was one of the finest dinners I've ever had, which is saying something. We were the only diners in the restaurant at 6:00pm (they open, after a break, from 6:00 to 8:00) and are primarily a breakfast, brunch, and lunch place, but the food we enjoyed for dinner there was excellent. The woman from the other couple and I had perogis stuffed with ground beef and onions made by the owner while my wife had a savory shrimp, avocado and tomato crepe and the man from the couple had four open-faced bruschetta sandwiches--one with prosciutto, one with turkey and pesto on rye, one with avocado and feta, and one with salmon.
For dessert, my wife and I had lemon crepes made with a homemade lemon sauce. Our friends had a strawberries and Nutella crepe and a big slice of Russian Honey Cake. We even got some Lindzer cookies and Raspberry Crumble cakes for later. Tanya, one of the member of the married couple who own the place, gave us two chocolate croissants to take back to our room for breakfast, too.
The owners are from Ukraine and Russia and have been operating their restaurant in Myrtle Beach for a bit over two years, surviving the pandemic and racking up a string of excellent reviews. We recommend...
Read moreWe really enjoyed the breakfast here. There are some unique choices on the menu and not just unique culturally, although those options exist too. The biggest draw for us were the Gluten-free options. The crepes tasted just as good as the non-gluten-free options. The Sweet crepe options were fantastic and filling (hope can you say no to a scoop of ice cream on your breakfast). The savory options were a nice mix of traditional and contemporary. The Apple Strudel Crepe is an excellent option. The Avocado toast with prosciutto was a really light and satisfying choice.
The seating is a bit cramped in areas but the booths are unique couch like seating and we rather enjoyed it. They have done a good job maximizing a small space. It’s decorated tastefully, not over the top.
There are some things I would change to make this a top notch destination. Ex. $1 for water isn’t necessary. We were given a bottle and it was poured in a glass and the bottle left at the table. While I appreciate the sentiment, I’d rather have tap water and not be charged or have the option.
Overall the restaurant is a good option for something a little different. In a town full of traditional breakfast places, Old Town Crepes is unique. It is on the pricier side for a breakfast place but it’s also in the heart of MB on the busiest street in town so it’s on par with what’s around it. We will be back to try some...
