River Oaks Pizzeria of Surfside — Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

Always looking for great pizza and dinners. We dined in. Server was ok/ not around much. Read the reviews so our party was excited to try this spot. It’s in a strip mall next to a grocery store and was about 40% full. Slow service, no waters, asked twice- drinks took forever which ok but they were not good. Beer not served in cold glasses. Bread was warm. No butter when asked. We started with apps- wings were terrible, salads ok but small, not shareable fries ate $11.50 and were served burnt and cold. Basic side of fries cooked in dirty grease for $11.50! Eggplant was fine nothing special tiny side of rigatoni, no leftovers. Their basic kids meals $11. The pizzas were all dry and extremely overpriced for the overcooked pies. This used to be Scattori’s a favorite pizza spot. Everything is up charge- but not listed/ as In $9.50 for 1/2 a pizza topping because it was a “special “ it said $4 a topping and we asked if that was 1/3 or whole. Tried River Oaks in Surfside for the first time with some of our neighbors. August was an excellent server. She checked on us multiple times and we never had to ask for anything. She was very attentive. Everyone on staff was very friendly, courteous and attentive. Our food was excellent and the menu is expansive. For entrees, we ordered the lasagna, the penne à la vodka with grilled shrimp, The eggplant parmesan, and the chicken pasta piccata. Each of our meals was delicious. We ordered one serving of triple chocolate mousse cake and it was good as well. The restaurant decor was nice with the wine bottle wall, tiled wall and fireplace wall. Our booth was roomy. We’ve only ordered take out or delivery from here, so I can’t speak to the in person service. But we’ve been ordering from here since the first week this location opened, and they have always been fantastic!! Never had a disappointing experience, which is rare to be able to say about a restaurant, especially in this area! Everything we’ve tried from here has been delicious! Their pizzas are fantastic. But their fig and goat pizza is a stand out!! It’s my favorite pizza in Myrtle Beach.

The one issue we ever had, was when we ordered delivery and there was a mistake through DoorDash and no drivers picked up our order. When we called the store, the owner said he would make it right, and ended up delivering our order himself! It was nice to see they care about...
