Have gone there for years and love their food. But lately their service has been awful. Every time I've gone recently, it gets worse and worse. We keep going back bc we do like the food and one of the rare places I can eat bc of food allergies. Was seated today around 12 noon. Took about 5 minutes before our server greeted us. She came back with drinks but left without taking our order. I was in restaurant management so I understand she had other tables and it was getting busy but watched her take food to one table, take drinks to another and take their order, she took a drink order and then returned and took the food order to a third, and then greeted a fourth table. She finally came and took our food order. As we waited for our food to arrive we watched the other tables that came after us all get their food, one table even ate got their bill and left and still no food at our table. We ordered salads and soup. W e tried to flag her down several times but every time she made eye contact with us she turned and walked away. Finally went up to the front and got her attention to ask if our food was coming. She asked "where are you sitting?" I told her and then she asked "am I your server?" After telling her that yes she was our server and we've waited over 45 minutes for our food. After that she kept coming over to the table and assuring us that our food was coming. And after that, she starts to cop a major attitude with us. All we wanted was the cup of soup and half salad that we ordered an hour ago. We finally get the food, was told by the manager that our meal would be taken care of. We said that it wasn't necessary, that that was not the reason we complained that we just wanted our food and it was not a complicated order and we got 2 different stories as to why it took so long, 1 from the Mgr, 1 from the server. The mgr did not take care of the bill or even discount it but gave us 2 desserts to go. After that we waited 20 minutes for the bill and the server all together stopped coming to our table. We went up to the front, and told the hostess we never got our bill but would like to pay when the hostess went to the computer she said "it's fine. I know where you were sitting, we all know" she said rudely. I paid and we left. When we got home we looked at the desserts which was truly a sliver of a cheesecake slice and the apple pie slice was not even intact, it truly had been scooped out by a spoon and was like 5 globs of an apple pie piece. We have given them chance after chance but today was it. Will...
Read moreFood was good, but the service lacking. Home of the “America's Farm Fresh” motto and simple homestyle cooking. Established in Rio Grande, Ohio, Bob Evans opened a 4-stool, 6-table diner serving made from scratch meals at an honest-to-goodness value. Now, 70 years later, Bob Evans Restaurants are king of the comfort food serving in 18 states. Inside, one can find a limited bakery and gift shop. A large dining area with comfortable booths, heavy, padded chairs and tables sectioned off with high back dividers. High ceilings, hanging lights and farm chic theme. Carpet is worn and in need of replacing but overall the place is clean. Our server Shelby was friendly, bringing us menus, water and taking our orders. We were very impressed with the speed of our food being served by another server who noted that we needed butter for my biscuits and napkins. She promised to return with those two items. She did not. My Sunshine Skillet was an open-faced omelet that was piping hot loaded with Bob Evans® sausage, golden-brown home fries smothered in country gravy and melted cheddar cheese. Two freshly-baked, flaky biscuits came on the side and they were worth every bite. Even without butter. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavorful skillet with the chunky sausage and fries, the simple egg shell and the homestyle gravy. We completed our meal with no butter, no extra napkins and two empty glasses. I guess drink refills and “how was your meal?” are no longer prerequisites for good customer service. Shelby did make a last ditch appearance with our check. That certainly...
Read moreWe live perhaps 3 miles from this Bob Evans. It was a horrible wait service. They were busy, but no excuse for what we got. Ordered coffee first. Next, we ordered breakfast. Drank our coffee, no refills offered till we stopped our waitress. My bacon and cheddar cheese omelet came as an omelet with crunchy, dry bacon and a single piece of American cheese just sitting on top of the omlete. No butter came with our grits. We asked for butter, and it took so long to get it, I decided to go to the counter and get it myself. As I waited for the butter, our waitress came up and told the person getting the butter: "I guess I wasn't fast enough for her." Right in front of me! Again, we were out of coffee. I caught our waitress and asked if we could have 1/2 carafe of coffee. She went to the front seating area (near highway) and got a 1/2 carafe from a table where people were about to leave, and took their carafe off their table and put it on our table. She didn't fill our empty cups, just put the pot on our table. After we paid, I asked to speak to the manager and explained the above. I told him that if it happened to us, it was happening to others. He apologized, was very nice, and gave me 3 five dollar coupons, which I will return tomorrow. I didn't complain to get something, I complained to bring attention to the meal and the service. If people don't voice issues, management can't address the problems. (Attached is a pic of a slice of American cheese (not cheddar, per manager) just put on top as an...
