I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Waffle House restaurant on 544 in Surfside Beach, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The outstanding service and delectable food left a lasting impression on me, making it a dining destination I cannot wait to visit again.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff. Their genuine smiles and courteous demeanor set the tone for a delightful dining experience. Despite the restaurant's bustling atmosphere, the staff managed to make every customer feel valued and attended to with efficiency.

Read moreWe love Waffle House and always search one out when we travel. We were headed out of town on our way home to Ohio after our annual visit to the area and stopped at this restaurant Waffle House #1626 according to the receipt .
We stopped in for lunch at around 1:30pm. Our server was Stephanie and I have to say, it's one of the worst experiences we've had at Waffle House. We were seated at a dirty table, since it was the only one not piled high with dirty dishes in the restauran. There were only 3 other 2-3 person groups in the place.
Stephanie finally came over after we had been seated for 5 minutes. She didn't wipe the table, smeared with grease and food remnants. She said "hey" and slowly passed out silverware. Then she asked what we wanted to drink. It was 8 minutes before she brought the drinks back, though she made three trips to the table next to ours to refill their drinks. Unfortunately, those were the only drinks we got for the entire meal.
When she brought the drinks, she took our order. She seemed very confused about what to write down. She moved as though she was underwater, v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. She called out our order, which was cooked and presented on the plate well, the cook did a great job. In fact, it was he and another employee that brought our meals as Stephanie fussed around slowly restocking some items. He was also the one who checked back with us to see if we needed anything as Stephanie slowly stacked glasses.
It's now 2:45pm and we're ready to leave, we had a long drive ahead. We kept asking Stephanie each time she walked by if she'd bring the check, she'd say yes, then start spooning grits into containers (slowly) for a take out order. After 10 minutes of asking for the check, we finally got up and went to the cash register where another employee cane over to ask what we needed. We explained that we were trying to leave but couldn't get the check brought to us. She asked Stephanie, who said "oh, I ain't added that up yet" and went back to digging around in a cabinet apparently looking for something. The cook turned around and looked at us with a pained expression and then the woman totaled the bill, finally closing us out at 2:55pm.
This was unacceptable and we are really disappointed with the lack of service or concern Stephanie provided. This wasn't a "confused new employee" situation, but rather a "couldn't care less" experience. I hope Stephanie will receive some training or maybe look for a job stocking shelves somewhere where customer service...

THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! I've been here too many times to know that I like the food, but the service is a hit or miss. I've gotten servers who are wonderful and keep me coming, but tonight... eye roll** I understand is Christmas and nobody wants to deal with nonsense. We go in and it's not bussy; two tables are leaving & a group of three ar the bar. One of the servers is taking care of her table and everyone else is in the back. The other server has the nastiest attitude, doesn't show interest in taking anymore tables. Which is fine if you don't want to work, don't work, bit the fact she sat there and fought for no reason. No one is rushing her, and she just walks back and forth, stressing herself out and making the entire staff look pathetic and disoriented.
Sadly I've been served by her in the past and it wasn't the same case. To night she wanted to run my husband and daughter, stating that was her restaurant and we should go.
I replied saying, how I too feel like it's my restaurant since I'm a regular of this franchise and as a person whose worked both corporate and customer service I know how stressful it can be, but because of that same reason I can tell she lacks customer service and management skills.
The food is WORTH THE VISIT. THE UNWANTED ATTITUDE SUCKS.
