On Friday, March 7, 2025 my wife and I were seated at Napa Valley Bistro at the far left side table against the wall next to the exit door. Table for two. The waiter was a tall Latino man who never said his name, no name tag and told us the specials of the day with such a heavy non-English speaking accent that neither of us had a clue what he had said. Our appetizer and dinner were served in good timing, and the food portions were okay but little for the price. Our waiter, with no known name, never came back to our table. My wife was facing the whole restaurant, and I had my back to the whole restaurant. My wife observed our waiter at the bar working as a bartender the whole time we ate, ran out of drinking water, and had finished our meal. We waited for a half-hour after eating, and no one came by our table but the two other staff served everyone but the two of us. So my wife raised her hand to flag the front desk seater who was near us and we asked for the check and to-go boxes. After the bill and boxes were delivered, another 20 min went by and no one collected my credit card to pay. Again, now my wife is holding up the check and card holder in the the air to try to get attention as our waiter continued to serve drinks at the bar. This was not a short-staffed situation, this was a blatant discrimination attitude as my wife is Asian and was wearing a school T-shirt coming from work. I am Caucasian and wore business attire from work, but my back was facing the restaurant. The patrons in this restaurant were 95 % Caucasian so my wife and I figured out why we were discriminated against in the form of being ignored. In addition to proving our position, there was a professional photographer taking pictures of everyone seated and their food. A party of six was seated to our right while we were waiting to pay with one man wearing a T-shirt, and the photographer ignored us and took a picture of the party of 6. So, we were the only table the photographer ignored. Coupled with being ignored by all the staff and the photographer, makes a discrimination point, not a coincidence. We were very observant of all the other tables being waited on and served, unlike our table. Very important rule is to not hire someone who is not proficient in English as with in our experience here and hire someone who has manners and treats others the way they would like to be treated, coupled with common sense. This was our third visit and our last visit. We will be telling everyone to...
Read moreWe enjoyed a great bottle of wine and the house focaccia bread, everything else was wrong. We had a special request and the server went and confirmed with the kitchen to see if they could oblige. They said they could. It was a fish substitution. When the order arrived half of it slid to the floor. And the order was not what was requested. When we asked the server, she said the kitchen said they were running low and could no longer do it. She never said anything and served what we didn't order.
We also ordered two burgers, one medium rare and one medium. The burgers were switched and one was missing bacon. We also ordered the sea scallops, it was missing the lemon verbena sauce (realized half way through the meal).
The GM came over to address the issues and stated all orders were being redone and would be out immediately. After 30 minutes we still did not have our meals. He comped everything except for the alcohol (reasonable). But we were ready to leave the restaurant at 9pm after 90 minutes without our meals. The GM came over and stated everything had just come up and would we like it boxed. SURE. We were prepared to take it back and eat at home.
Only three meals were in the bag. The scallops were not there. The scallops, the only meal at the table was shared. Apparently, it didn't need to be corrected because the sauce was brought to the table for us to eat after the meal had gone cold, while waiting for the other meals to be tabled.
The reason why they got three stars is because they attempted to fix the issues. Overall this was a very poor experience and not how we wanted to...
Read moreWanted to treat my family to a nice place and had seen good reviews, so we came here last night. Ordered a $40 bottle of wine but were brought an $80 bottle. We noticed it shortly after he’d uncorked and left the table (forgive us for not immediately distinguishing between two unfamiliar labels), so we kindly notified, explaining that we liked the wine but had to be sensitive about prices (some wines were $100+/bottle, and I simply can’t afford that). He then came back and showed us an entirely different wine menu, which we pointed out. The manager then came out and did the exact same thing. Considering I’m about to spend $300+ (more than I’ve ever spent on any dinner, anywhere, since I’m paying for everyone), I nearly lost my patience at that point (made me feel cheap, not to mention we were in the right), but the manager saw our wine list and said he’d give us that price (which didn’t happen). Our food didn’t come for an hour and a half, so we ordered a second bottle (something different, also $40). We practically highlighted the damn thing on the menu to avoid any confusion. But guess what...yep...TWICE! This time I noticed it before he’d uncorked, and was told it was the replacement—same price. It was not the same price. And they only credited the first bottle $20 off (it was a $40 discrepancy). Absolutely ruined what should’ve been a memorable evening. Impressively poor service, especially from...
