Short version: i drove from Elk Grove (1.5 hours away) to try this food. It took 2 1/2 hours from when we ordered to when we received our food. I recommend the oxtails and Mac and cheese. The food was good but not worth waiting almost 3 hours for. I went for the Saturday buffet, only for someone to call me at 4:08 same day to tell me they will not be doing the buffet just regular plates (which if I’d known ahead of time I wouldn’t have gone).
Longer version: To give you a time frame we first sat down at 4:10pm. After having to flag someone down for a menu we ordered or food at 4:23pm. They were so unorganized. They said the wait time was so long cause they were backed up in the kitchen. There were at least 2 times a wait staff came out with a plate trying to figure out which table the food belongs to. There were SEVERAL tables that left cause they didn’t want to continue waiting for their food. If we didn’t drive so far just for this food I would have left too. At 6:03pm someone came by and retook our order. I was told twice they were “plating our food and it should be out shortly.” She first said it at 6:13pm. We received our first entree at 6:54pm. We ended up sending a piece of chicken back because it didn’t look cooked all the way. Like I said the food was good, we enjoyed everything (although the fried chicken was a little salty). We asked for the check and boxes at 7:18pm. After asking 2 different people we got some containers at 7:31pm and finally received the bill at 7:40pm. We were told it took so long to get the bill cause there was something wrong with the system. When we left there were plenty of tables who still didn’t get there food yet. We ordered the cornbread (not worth the price) and 3 entrees. The oxtails, fried chicken, and catfish. The total came out to $120. After waiting for so long they could have given us a free dessert or appetizer or drink or comped one our dishes or SOMETHING! They barely apologized for the wait. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here. May have been my first and last time at lil...
Read moreI never like to leave a bad review but here we go. Me and a close friend like doing brunch together on the weekends. We went to Lil Sista's because of the viral video we saw on Instagram. We had high hopes. Our experience started at the front desk with the receptionist, who turned out to be lil sista herself the owner. She sat us at a table within minutes which was great. Looking around at everyone seeming to be enjoying the atmosphere and food. We sat at the table for about 5-10 minutes (trying not to exaggerate) with no interaction from any of the staff members. Finally we got one of the waitstaffs attention. She advised we just go up and start the buffet. I think it would have nice if the person who sat us advised as she was seating us. On the buffet was bacon, apple chicken sausage, and homefries which was served by someone as you passed your plate to them. There was an omelet station, which the chef had a list of names making the orders (backed up a bit). The waffle and chicken station, along with fruit selections and pastries. The waffles were backed up a bit. The chicken that was given were drumlettes and unfortunately the pieces I had was undercooked, meaning the bone was red with blood. During that time we had a nice waitress come over and get a drink order from us. Overall the atmosphere and music was great. The food was quite a let down from what we saw on the Instagram video. Come to find out that menu is only served on Sundays and we went on Satuday March 1st. We went and paid at the front desk which was $75.00 total for the brunch we had. We feel we could have gotten a better breakfast at IHOP in my opinion. The owner did ask how everything was but we didn't want to be THOSE people and complain! We lied and said it was good. I feel bad because they have been open for years as I heard and feel the viral Boozie Brunch video was what may have overwhelmed the experience we had. All and all we gave it a 3 stars and that was for the atmosphere. The food was 2 at best!!! The photo is for Sunday brunch not an everyday...
Read moreLet me start with, I support Black owned businesses, especially in these times. The food, chef's kiss! There was nothing our party of 7 ate that was not good. As a matter of fact, the mac & cheese was so good, it even tasted good cold! However, the service was below sub par. It was horrendous! The wait staff appeared to be family and friends, because they displayed no desire to be helpful or of service. Dirty plates stayed piled up on our table until we asked they be removed. They served warm Kirkland champagne with warm juice. The 2nd time they came to fill our glasses, there was hair on the bottle. The service was just a mess!! The music was blaring for no reason. It was not a good experience at all and we wanted to enjoy it so much! My sister came from Atlanta and had been looking at the food for weeks before she arrived. It was my birthday, so I wanted it to be special. Just not a good experience at all!! I have no intention on ever going back. We went for the brunch, at $75 per person, only had 2 mimosa because no one would bring us refills. There is a 1.5 hour limit, but no timely service. There was a long food line, they ran out of food, so we had to wait, they served portions, which was typically just 1 small scoop. It was not all you can eat, it was all we will allow you to eat. I could've asked for more but again at $75 pp, why would I have to ask. I've had bigger portions as a guest at Thanksgiving dinners. It felt very tight and unwelcoming. I pray the owner reads all reviews and hires professional staff. People who know champagne should be cold, food should be plentiful, and the volume on the music should be reasonable. Because some people want to talk to the folks they came with. Blessings to you my Sista! Please do better so you can have a long & successful business! We need it!...
